Land, Water, and Air
Save Water When Washing Dishes
Dishwashers can save water — if used wisely. I will only run the dishwasher when it’s full and skip the pre-rinse to reduce water and energy use. If I don't have a dishwasher, I will turn off the tap as often as possible while washing dishes.
Land, Water, and Air
Learn About Water Justice
Access to clean water is a basic right, yet not everyone has it. I will spend 10 minutes learning about water justice issues and who is affected.
Health and Well-Being
Prioritize Getting Enough Sleep
Good sleep is essential for a healthy body and mind. I will prioritize getting 15 minutes of quality sleep each night and develop a bedtime routine that supports rest and relaxation.
Community and Connection
Swap and Share with Others
Swapping and sharing resources reduces waste and builds community bonds. I will participate in 3 swaps or sharing activities, like borrowing items, attending or hosting a swap meet, or giving away items I no longer need to support a sharing economy with friends, family, colleagues or neighbors.
Health and Well-Being
Replace a Product
Small changes can make a big difference for health and sustainability. Using what I learned from auditing ingredients in the products I use, I will replace 2 toxic or harmful products I use with safer, eco-friendly alternatives.
Land, Water, and Air
Reduce Food Waste
Wasting food also wastes water, energy, and resources. I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during the Ecochallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation, and commit to reducing my food waste throughout the challenge.
Health and Well-Being
Audit Toxic Products in my Home
Many common products contain harmful chemicals. I will spend 10 minutes researching chemicals found in products I use, and I will make a list of products I'd like to replace with safer options.
Land, Water, and Air
Join a Cleanup Effort
Working together to clean up public spaces helps the environment and builds community. I will participate in 1 community cleanup efforts in my neighborhood or local area.
Health and Well-Being
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 10 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Health and Well-Being
Enjoy the Outdoors for 30 Minutes
Studies have shown that when we spend consistent time in nature, our health improves, our creativity increases, and our connection to the planet gets stronger. Each day of the Ecochallenge, I will spend 30 minutes outside, then share my observations, reflections, and learnings on the feed.
Community and Connection
Explore My Area
Discovering what’s nearby fosters a deeper connection to my community. I will explore 5 new places in my area, such as parks, historical sites, or local businesses.
Community and Connection
Offer a Skill or Service
Sharing our talents can benefit those around us. I will offer my skills or services to support my community, such as helping someone with a task, tutoring, repairing something, or volunteering my expertise.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity and ConnectionWhat skill or service did you offer, and how did it impact someone in your community? How did sharing your expertise or time help you feel more connected to others?
ADELA HARLISCA 4/30/2025 5:12 AMAs I'm really good with Power Bi when Tunde requested my support to solve a small challenge for the Eco-challenge dashboard I stepped in quickly and managed to help her. -

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingHow did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?
ADELA HARLISCA 4/30/2025 5:08 AMI enjoyed the exercises I did during this month. Having an action selected and seeing it each day in the app help me stay accountable to do my exercises. I enjoyed also convincing my colleagues to use the stairs instead of the elevator. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONSustainable InnovationWhat impact do you consider your idea will create
ADELA HARLISCA 4/29/2025 10:25 PMIf we all reduce the lightning on our laptops our battery will last longer and we will save energy. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity and ConnectionHow did you participate in the sharing economy? (Consider posting a photo!) What are the benefits of a sharing economy? How could a sharing economy change the dynamics you have with friends, family and/or neighbors?
ADELA HARLISCA 4/29/2025 10:23 PMThe things that made me really happy to share was my wedding vail. It felt like I was passing the blessing of my happy marriage to a person that I care about. I like sharing the things that I have as most of the time we are using them only a few times. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money? What patterns did you notice in the food you threw away, and how can you address them?
ADELA HARLISCA 4/29/2025 10:21 PMIn Romania especially during Easter of Christmas our parents prepare a lot of food. We established a rule with my husband to do a proper planning to not continue this tradition, we buy just how much we need knowing that both our moms will have a lot of food waiting for us to take home when we leave. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirHow did changing your dishwashing habits make you more mindful of water use? What other small changes can you make to conserve water in your household?
ADELA HARLISCA 4/29/2025 10:19 PMI was already using the dishwasher as I knew from previous years from Eco-challenge the impact that doing this has. I am happy to be able to take care of the planet.-

ADELA HARLISCA 4/27/2025 11:31 AMWe walked a lot during this weekend instead of taking the car, even if it was rainy weather. We've discovered new places in our city thanks to that. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingConsider how many hours of sleep you get now. How would you like to shift your sleep patterns? What changes did you make to improve your sleep, and how did they affect your day?
ADELA HARLISCA 4/27/2025 11:29 AMI've been sleeping from 9.30-10PM for years now. I learnt that that is the best sleep time frame, until 12, and I can actually feel more rested when I follow my normal program. -
