Donate to Support Emerging Leaders
Investing in young leaders helps shape the future. I will make a donation to a program or organization that supports emerging environmental leaders.
Empowering the Next Generation
Learn About Indigenous Conservation Practices
Indigenous communities have stewarded ecosystems for generations through deep-rooted knowledge and connection to nature. I will spend 10 minutes exploring Indigenous conservation methods and reflecting on their role in fostering balance and equity with nature.
Empowering the Next Generation
Enjoy the Environment with Youth
Experiencing nature together builds appreciation and connection. I will spend 60 minutes enjoying an outdoor activity with a young person, such as hiking, visiting a park or nature center, or exploring a trail.
Community and Connection
Check In with a Friend or Colleague
Staying connected strengthens relationships and boosts well-being. Each day, I will reach out to 2 friends or colleagues to check in, have a meaningful conversation, or offer support.

Attend a Local Event
Local events such as farmers' markets, festivals, or community meetings like town halls are great ways to feel part of a community. I will attend 1 community events to connect with others and learn more about my area.

Host a Gathering
Bringing people together helps strengthen bonds. I will organize and host a gathering, such as a potluck, coffee meet up, or shared meal, for friends, family, colleagues, or neighbors to foster connection and community spirit.

Support a Youth-Led Project
Youth-led projects drive innovation and change. I will support youth-led environmental projects by offering time, resources, or encouragement and share how I supported youth on the Ecochallenge feed.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONEmpowering the Next GenerationWhat lessons did you learn from Indigenous conservation practices, and how can these inspire the next generation to create a more sustainable and equitable future?
Elizabeth Haffey 4/30/2025 11:49 PMI learned that the indigenous people only took as much as they needed and used every part of every buffalo they killed, and they also used fish to grow plants. Future generations can use this as inspiration and only take what they actually need and work to use every part of every resource they take. -

Elizabeth Haffey 4/30/2025 11:43 PMSupporting programs for emerging leaders makes me feel confident in investing in the next generation and gives me hope for the environment to be taken care of in the future. I hope my donation inspires hope in future generations that they will be able to do better for the environment than past generations. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEmpowering the Next GenerationWhat impressed you most about the youth-led project you supported, and how did your involvement help?
Elizabeth Haffey 4/30/2025 11:23 PMThe thing that impressed me the most about the youth-led project I supported (eco club rose creek clean up) was just how much trash is in a small area of my community. My involvement helped because I cleaned up several pounds of trash from the area. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity and ConnectionWhat was the most rewarding part of bringing people together for a gathering? Did you experience any challenges in hosting, and if so, how did you overcome them?
Elizabeth Haffey 4/30/2025 10:47 PMThe most rewarding part of bringing people together for a gathering was getting to reconnect with my family members that I haven´t seen in a long time. Some challenges I faced were organizing a time where everybody in my family was free to come over, and making sure the house and food was presentable for everyone. -
