Enjoy a Meatless Meal

Producing 1 kg of beef emits as much greenhouse gas as driving 150 miles, meanwhile, 1 kg of veggies or grains leaves a much lighter footprint! This week, I’ll shrink my climate impact by having 2 meatless meals and/or 1 vegan meals each day.

To prepare for extreme weather events, we got a large amount of canned and boxed foods that do not expire for an extremely long time. We also made a space in our garage that we could hide in just in case of an earthquake. Finally, we have large amounts of water supply in case of an emergency.

Those are all excellent preparations for extreme weather-type events. I live in an area frequently visited by hurricanes, so we often have extended power outages. We wanted lights that weren’t dependent on batteries, and which were safe in a household with young children and/or pets. I recommend these solar lights/phone chargers. https://luminaid.com/products/titan-2-in-1-phone-charger

In San Diego, there is a large issue of sewage crossing over the border from Mexico and polluting our oceans. This impacts low-income communities of color like Barrio Logan, Imperial Beach, and National City the most. To support those affected, we can support government officials to allocate money towards the South Bay International Wastewater Treatment Plant in San Ysidro.

Exercising each day made my body feel more energized throughout the day and my muscles feel more strengthened. My mind felt more focused and attentive during class on days that I got more exercise. I enjoyed going to the gym the most because it makes my muscles feel very strong and it is a nice place to clear my head and be mindful of my body.
