We are getting together to plant our first food garden in the Boulder Campus. Bring your veggies, herbs, or flowers seedlings and come help build this garden with us. There were seeds left over from the Seed Swap Event, which will get planted too. We will have three big planters (10 x 3 x 1ft) filled with nice soil ready to be sowed. Wednesday, April 30th at 2 PM by the Bocci Court outside the West Wing Expansion Let's close the celebrations of Earth Month with golden keys, looking towards fruitful healthy harvests in the near future.

Land, Water, and Air
Reduce Vehicle Idling
Idling cars wastes fuel, contributes to climate change, and pollutes the air in our communities. I will turn off my engine when waiting in my car to reduce air pollution and carbon emissions.
Wildlife
Use Reusable Bags
Plastic bags do not always end up in landfills and if they aren't properly disposed of. In nature, they can be mistaken for food by many wild animals and harm wildlife. When I go shopping, I will be sure to bring my own bags to reduce waste and the chance that plastic bags could find their way into wildlife habitats.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlifeHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Jett Gori 4/28/2025 8:53 AMSwitching to reusable bags was a small adjustment at first, and remembering to bring them with me every day took a little getting used to. However, it quickly became part of my routine, and I realized how easy the change actually was. It feels good knowing that this simple habit makes a big difference in reducing waste and supporting a more eco-friendly lifestyle. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingHow did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?
Jett Gori 4/24/2025 8:08 AMExercising daily, like mountain biking, is top-tier for both physical and mental well-being. Physically, mountain biking engages multiple muscle groups, improving cardiovascular health and endurance. The intense focus required on trails sharpens reflexes and coordination. Mentally, the rush of adrenaline combined with the serene natural surroundings reduces stress and boosts mood. It provides a sense of accomplishment, especially conquering challenging trails or achieving personal bests. Regular biking sessions also foster a supportive community of fellow riders, enhancing social connections and overall happiness. Altogether, mountain biking isn't just a workout; it's a holistic experience that rejuvenates both body and mind.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet? What fruits or vegetables did you try this week, and which was your favorite?
Jett Gori 4/23/2025 7:58 AMSince I started eating more fruits and vegetables and cutting back on meat, I’ve felt more energized and just overall healthier. It’s also satisfying to know that these small changes in my diet help reduce my environmental impact, like using less water and lowering carbon emissions. It feels good to take care of my body while also doing something positive for the planet. With that, I've been sticking to bananas, grapes, and strawberries as part of my daily intake.-

Nice going Jett! I read recently that the factory farming industry accounts for almost 15% of GHGE--scary stuff. -
Coltan Grabau 4/23/2025 8:24 AMI have seen you cut back on meat and increase your produce intake! I am glad to hear that it is helping both physically and mentally with saving the Earth!

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirHow did being mindful of vehicle idling change your perspective on fuel consumption and air quality? What other transportation habits can you adopt to reduce your environmental impact?
Jett Gori 4/04/2025 7:28 AMThese past few days, I've been more mindful about idling, saving a good amount of fuel. It’s eye-opening how unnecessary it is to keep the engine running just to listen to music.
Riding my electric bike to work is a simple way to cut down on emissions while staying active. Instead of sitting in traffic burning gas, I can cruise past congestion, enjoying fresh air and a stress-free ride. Charging my e-bike uses a fraction of the energy a car does, and with bike lanes and trails, I can often take a more scenic and direct route. Plus, I save money on gas and parking while reducing my carbon footprint. It’s an easy switch that benefits both me and the planet!-

- 16-DAY STREAK
Reducing driving, especially on the near daily commute to work, is something I've always made excuses about--at the end of the day, it's just inconvenient and I am not willing to put in the work. Thank you for sharing Jett, this is inspiring me to do more investigation on the bus route or carpooling in my area to work to cut down on my emissions!

Jett Gori 4/02/2025 8:22 AMI joined the eco challenge because I spend a lot of time outdoors— primarily with mountain biking, skiing, and camping. As a Colorado native, I’ve always loved this state and want to do my part to keep it beautiful for future generations. I’m excited to find ways to make a positive impact, whether that’s reducing waste on my trips, being more mindful of my energy use, or helping keep trails clean. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s progress and encouraging each other along the way!
