Water
Save Water When Washing Dishes
Dishwashers can save water — if used wisely. I will only run the dishwasher when it’s full and skip the pre-rinse to reduce water and energy use. If I don't have a dishwasher, I will turn off the tap as often as possible while washing dishes.
Work and Organizations
Reduce Waste in My Organization
Waste reduction supports both ecological and organizational resilience. I will work with others to conduct a waste audit and reduce waste in my organization, such as paper, plastics, or energy use.
Work and Organizations
Practice Resource Sharing
Sharing strengthens resilience. I will take part in 5 acts of resource-sharing in my organization or with another organization, such as sharing tools, staff skills, or swapping knowledge, to help reduce waste and build collaboration. I will share what I did in the feed to inspire others!
Water
Collect Rain Water
Rainwater collection reduces water waste and supports local needs. I will install a rain barrel or collect rainwater to use for outdoor tasks, such as watering plants or cleaning.
Work and Organizations
Host a Low or No-Waste Lunch or Gathering
Sharing meals builds connection and resilience. I will organize 5 low or no-waste lunches, coffee breaks, or informal gatherings with colleagues, classmates, or volunteers to build stronger relationships and reduce waste.
Work and Organizations
Support Local or Minority-Owned Businesses
Purchasing choices can strengthen community resilience. I will direct 5 of my organization’s purchases or events toward local or minority-owned businesses, helping build diverse and resilient economies.
Community
Log Volunteer Hours
Log your Ecochallenge-related Volunteer Hour in Good Works. If using VTO, please also request time in Workday. Email Anjelica if you have questions ([email protected]). P.S. In celebration of Arch's 25th anniversary, employees that record at least 7.5 volunteer hours will earn a $25 incentive to support the community.

Lanita Goins 4/12/2026 8:37 PMThis weekend, my daughter and I planted seeds to start our backyard garden. Last year, we planted just vegetables and a few flowers, but this year we increased the amount of flowering plants planned to attract more pollinators. We're eager to learn more about what works/doesn't work, but it's fun to try even when we make mistakes.-

I live this so much. You inspired me to research seed libraries near me! I confirmed our local library has one :)
