Empowering the Next Generation
Learn About Indigenous Conservation Practices
Indigenous communities have stewarded ecosystems for generations through deep-rooted knowledge and connection to nature. I will spend 10 minutes exploring Indigenous conservation methods and reflecting on their role in fostering balance and equity with nature.
Wildlife
Plant (or Adopt) a Plant
Landscaping with native plants, gardening, and having plants inside can have benefits for nature and our health. I will plant or adopt a new plant or grow one from seeds and post a photo of it to the feed.
Health and Well-Being
Enjoy Fruits and Veggies
Adding fruits and vegetables to our meals nourishes our body and the planet. I will prepare and enjoy 3 servings of a variety of colorful fruits and veggies.
Health and Well-Being
Declutter and Donate
Decluttering can reduce stress and benefit others. I will declutter my home and donate items I no longer need to support others in my community.
Health and Well-Being
Meditate
Meditation helps build resilience and clarity. I will spend 2 minutes each day to meditate or create a moment of silence each day to reflect on things important to me.
Health and Well-Being
Prioritize Getting Enough Sleep
Good sleep is essential for a healthy body and mind. I will prioritize getting 10 minutes of quality sleep each night and develop a bedtime routine that supports rest and relaxation.

Rebecca Gaitan 4/22/2025 11:01 AMEvery year I garden and every year I add a new addition to my garden. First, I cleaned out the old garden beds by pulling out weeds and remixing my dirt mixture. After cleaning that up, I re-planted my baby veggies/herbs. I did buy my Poblano Peppers from Home Depot.
After that, I added a new addition to my garden where we made our own trellis and plan on paining it nicely (right now it looks unfinished). Excited to get the pebbles to cover the tarp.
Additionally, I added my chicks in their oversized cage. I usually let the roam freely, so that they can be 'Cage Free' chickens but it's hard to keep an eye on them when I'm pouring dirt. I don't want to accidentally pour dirt on them!

So on April 10th, my eggs hatched. I gave some away and kept 5. Since they've been born, I have had a blast learning about chickies and how to make them strong as they grow. I've learned about using a heat lamp and to make sure to give them as much attention as they can have for them to trust me and know me as their "mama"
I'm even teaching them how to read. Jk!-

Your chicks are so adorable! My grandfather let me raise a chicken when I was little and I loved it. Hope you enjoy spending time with your sweet chickens!

Rebecca Gaitan 4/22/2025 10:25 AMI have been so busy I forgot to post most days! But on April 7th-April 9th, I began my garden clean up. Where I cleaned out my garden from all the weeds it grew throughout the winter.
On April 10th my chicken eggs hatched and I've been so focused on them. (I will post pictures)
April 18th - Present: I got new dirt for my garden beds, planted my veggies (tomatoes, Squash, Zucchini, Cucumbers, Onions, Garlic) and herbs (Cilantro, Rosemary, Mint, Basil, Spinach). I am in the process of going to pick up pebbles for my garden to walk on. (I will also post pictures of that)
I have planted flowers in the front yard and they are growing wonderfully!
- Pictures coming up next!
