Recycle Everything I Can

Recycling

Contamination prevents what is recyclable from being recycled. I will research and recycle all materials that are accepted by local haulers or drop stations in my community, making sure to not contaminate recyclables with non-recyclables.

Use Muscle Power

Multiple Transportation Solutions

I will cut my car trip mileage by only taking necessary trips, and I will only use muscle-powered transportation for all other trips.

What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

I think more walking paths through the city or sidewalks in our community would make it a more attractive choice. Many are concerned about walking and sharing the road with cars. I live in a community with a lot of retired people and more access for them would be a plus
  • Reflection Question
    Transportation Use Muscle Power
How do your transportation choices affect your engagement in your community? Does your experience or enjoyment differ while walking, riding transit, biking or driving?

If it is not necessary to drive - why do so?  My enjoyment while walking is tremendous.  It grounds me, prioritizes what is truly of import and aligns me spiritually. As such, if I value me...it transcends to my family, community and city.  If I drive...I only feel this way while going thru the countryside. I guess walking is a bit selfish for me but I see all the benefit for my world as well.

    Industry Recycle Everything I Can
How could you incorporate other "R's" -- reduce, reuse, refuse, repair, repurpose, etc. -- into your lifestyle? How does considering implementing these "R's" make you feel?

like I value Mother Earth and am doing my part to keep the planet healthy for my grand babies....
  • Reflection Question
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Smaller Portions
While dishing food out, we tend to load our plates with more than we need. Using smaller plates helps to mitigate this. Aside from the environmental benefits, what other benefits might come from eating/serving smaller portions?

Invariably loss of weight that perhaps is feeding other health issues.  I have RA so taking some of the unhealthy weight off by eating smaller portions will relieve my joints.
  • Reflection Question
Food, Agriculture, and Land Use Support Local Food Systems
Dependable fresh food, supporting local farmers and building resilient communities are just a few benefits of local food systems. Which of these (or other) advantages inspire you the most?

I want to build a more resilient community - and supporting my neighbors economically is only one way.  If they succeed - we have access to fresh and local grown which is a win also for my family.

I live in a small town so I feel it is important to support our local growers.

HEB in Texas also does a terrific job as a grocer in supporting Texas Grown foods.
