  • Reflection Question
Health & Equity Learn About Gender Diversity
Why is equity for gender diverse individuals important for a just and sustainable society?

Unequal societies are less cohesive. They have larger rates of anti-social behavior and violence. Countries with higher gender equality are more connected. Their people have better wellbeing.
  • Reflection Question
Health & Equity Support Indigenous & First Nations Communities
Why is it important to honor native and indigenous peoples and cultures? What have you learned that is important to you? If you identify with or are a member of an indigenous group, how does your community practice sustainability?

Indigenous Peoples help protect our environment, fight climate change, and build resilience to natural disasters, yet their rights aren’t always protected. Learning about Aboriginal cultures is essential for students to develop the ability to respect, coexist, and communicate with people of different cultural backgrounds and ethnic groups.

I chose to do the Ecochallenge to educate myself. To gain a broader knowledge of the different ways my family and myself can contribute towards making "real" environmental impact.  It takes a village to create change and I am happy to part of the village!

What was it like to mend your clothing? If you are skilled at mending, what tips do you have for others?

I enjoy mending and fixing clothing for my household. This is something I have always done for my Dad, I am always patching something.

What is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?

I will not water my yard this summer to reduce our households water use. I already do not wash dishes unless the sink is full.
