"To show up each day with intention and find inspiration in small, meaningful actions and turning it into positive change. Through my participation in EcoChallenge, I aim to live more consciously, reduce my impact, and inspire others to take simple, everyday steps toward a healthier, more sustainable way of living."

Take the Pre-Survey
Take the Pre-Event Survey
I’ll take a short pre-survey to share what motivated me to join — and earn 15 points! (If I already took the survey by email, I’ll just mark this action complete to get my points.)
Action Track
Environmental Volunteer Opportunity - FCR Volunteer Day
Give back to your community & the environment by participating in an environmentally-related volunteer activity this April. Not only will you get points in the EcoChallenge, but this counts towards FCR's corporate volunteer day objective as well!
Personal
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 25 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Community
Support Local Businesses
Supporting local businesses helps keep communities vibrant and resilient. I will choose to shop at 1 local businesses or restaurants, with a focus on businesses owned by people of color, local farmers, or community members.
Personal
Reduce Refined Sugar
Cutting back on refined sugar can improve energy, mood, and overall health. I will limit my intake of sugary snacks and drinks by reducing refined sugar in meals or snacks each day.
Soil and Food
Grow Something to Eat
Growing food builds resilience by connecting us to the soil and reducing reliance on long supply chains. I will grow edible plants—such as herbs, vegetables, or grains—in my home, balcony, or community space, strengthening both my food security and local biodiversity.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Leave the Leaves
Fallen leaves, logs, and brush provide shelter and food for wildlife. I will leave natural features in my yard or community space to help strengthen biodiversity and soil resilience.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Choose Native Plants
Native plants provide food and shelter for local wildlife and help ecosystems adapt to change. I will choose native plants for my yard, balcony, or community space instead of non-native or ornamental species to support biodiversity resilience.
Soil and Food
Learn How to Save Pollinators
Bees and other pollinators are vital to ecosystems and agriculture. I will spend 15 minutes learning how to support local pollinators and take at least one action—such as planting native flowers or avoiding pesticides—to help sustain resilient ecosystems and harvests.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Reduce Light Pollution
Too much artificial light can confuse and harm animals, especially those active at night. I will reduce sources of outdoor light or switch to wildlife-friendly fixtures to support healthy habitats.
Soil and Food
Eat Local and Seasonal Foods
Local and seasonal foods require fewer resources, support nearby farmers, and keep soils healthier through diverse planting. I will source 3 meals per week from local or seasonal producers—such as markets, CSAs, or co-ops—to strengthen community food resilience.
Soil and Food
Enjoy a Meatless Meal
Producing 1 kg of beef emits as much greenhouse gas as driving 150 miles, meanwhile, 1 kg of veggies or grains leaves a much lighter footprint! This week, I’ll shrink my climate impact by having 1 meatless meals meals each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONBiodiversity and WildlifeWhat natural features did you leave in place, and what wildlife do you think could benefit from them?

There are several areas in my yard where we left fallen leaves, sticks, twigs etc to provide habitat for pollinators. I also thing the birds will benefit from the sticks & twigs as they begin nesting!-

We have some lights on our porch that are always on. Although they are LED bulbs and don't use much energy, I realize now that they are contributing to light pollution. I purchased a timer so that they can turn off when we are in bed. I also reduced the wattage of the bulbs we were using so they are less bright when on.-
Nicole Leonardson 4/01/2026 9:35 AMI switched my outside lights to dusk til dawn lights. That way they are not on all day, if I forgot to them off.

Resilience matters now more than ever because the world isn’t slowing down, it’s becoming more uncertain, more complex, and more demanding. Challenges aren’t the exception anymore; they’re part of the landscape.
We can see this clearly in the natural world. Forests regenerate after wildfires, ecosystems adapt to shifting conditions, and life finds a way to return, rebuild, and evolve. Nature doesn’t resist change, it responds to it, adjusts, and continues forward.
Resilience is what allows us to do the same. It helps us keep moving when plans change, when setbacks hit, or when the path isn’t clear. It’s not about avoiding difficulty, it’s about growing through it. It keeps us grounded, adaptable, and open to possibility.
In a time where so much is outside our control, resilience gives us something powerful back: the ability to respond with clarity, courage, and purpose, and to keep moving forward, no matter what.
I can't wait to see the collective impact and hear about all the ways that we are becoming more resilient as individuals, as a team and as a company.
