  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife
How do pollinators impact your daily life, and what changes can you make to ensure they continue to thrive?

    Daniela EscobarGuerrero's avatar
    Daniela EscobarGuerrero 4/30/2025 11:54 PM
Pollinators like bees and butterflies impact my life by helping grow the fruits, vegetables, and nuts I eat. Without them, our food choices would be limited and way more expensive. To help them thrive, I can plant native flowers, avoid pesticides, and support local farms that use pollinator-friendly practices.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife
What did you learn about how tourism impacts wildlife, and how can you make more conscious choices when planning a trip? How do you think your travel decisions can contribute to wildlife conservation and respectful interactions with nature?

    Daniela EscobarGuerrero's avatar
    Daniela EscobarGuerrero 4/30/2025 11:52 PM
I learned that tourism can disrupt wildlife habitats and stress animals, especially when people get too close or support attractions that exploit them. I can research eco-certified tours, avoid places that offer direct contact with wild animals, and support conservation-focused places. By choosing travel options that are responsible, I can help protect wildlife, support ethical practices, and make sure that nature is not harmed by tourism.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife
How difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?

    Daniela EscobarGuerrero's avatar
    Daniela EscobarGuerrero 4/30/2025 11:47 PM
It was hard at first because I had to buy reusable bags and I would often forget to bring them or I would leave them in the car. What made it easier was keeping them in a backpack or near the door of my house so I would see them when leaving.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Sustainable Innovation
Equitable access, environmental justice and creating employment opportunities are just a few advantages of low-income solar programs. What motivated you to support solar energy initiatives for low-income communities, and how do you think it contributes to a more equitable future?

    Daniela EscobarGuerrero's avatar
    Daniela EscobarGuerrero 4/30/2025 11:32 PM
I was motivated to support solar energy initiatives for low-income communities because everyone deserves access to clean, affordable energy no mattter what their income level is. These programs help reduce energy bills, create local jobs, and lessen the environmental struggle that underserved areas usually have. Supporting them makes me feel like we could have a equitable future where sustainability is for everyone to have without having to earn it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What sustainable product did you purchase, and how does it align with your values?

    Daniela EscobarGuerrero's avatar
    Daniela EscobarGuerrero 4/30/2025 11:22 PM
I bought a reusable water bottle made from recycled stainless steel. It aligns with my values because I’m trying to not use single-use plastics and make choices that are better for the planet. Even though it's a small change I think everyone could do it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What new insights did you gain about seaweed’s role in combating environmental challenges? Were you surprised how many products you may already be using contain seaweed?

    Daniela EscobarGuerrero's avatar
    Daniela EscobarGuerrero 4/30/2025 11:20 PM
I learned about how seaweed helps against climate change by absorbing large amounts of carbon dioxide and reducing ocean acidification. I was surprised to learn that seaweed is used in a lot of everyday products, like toothpaste, ice cream and even cosmetics and bio-packaging.

    Daniela EscobarGuerrero 4/28/2025 11:12 PM
I put together an emergency kit with essentials like water, non-perishable food, flashlights, and a first aid kit. I also found a website for local weather alerts and am going to create a family communication plan. A resource I used was Ready.gov because it has great checklists and planning tools.

The most rewarding part of bringing people together was seeing my family relax, smile, and have a good time together. It also felt good to see everyone together in one place. Getting everyone together was hard because everyone in my family has different schedules. But once everyone agreed on a date and time it was good and it was fun.
