Land, Water, and Air

Save Water When Washing Dishes

Dishwashers can save water — if used wisely. I will only run the dishwasher when it’s full and skip the pre-rinse to reduce water and energy use. If I don't have a dishwasher, I will turn off the tap as often as possible while washing dishes.

Produce No Waste for a Day

The impacts of our waste are far reaching. I will create zero waste for an entire day and share my reflections and learnings on the feed.

COMPLETED 15

    • 15-DAY STREAK
During our fun-filled 2-day resort trip with family friends, I took on the role of a silent auditor, observing our waste habits.
    Key Observation:
    1. While we were mindful about where and how to dispose of waste, no one really paid attention to how much waste we were generating. I noticed that excessive waste generation itself was a major issue.
    Reflection & Motivation:
This reminded me of how animals often cannot distinguish between natural food and man-made waste, leading to potential harm when they accidentally consume plastics or other non-biodegradable materials.
This realization motivates me to not only focus on proper waste disposal but also on minimizing waste generation itself. By reducing waste at the source, we can make disposal easier and significantly lessen our environmental impact. 🌍♻️
Would love to hear your thoughts—have you ever noticed similar waste habits during trips? 😊

    Expressing Gratitude

    Impact on Me:
    • Boosted My Mood – A simple “thank you” or a small kind gesture made me feel more positive and fulfilled.
    • Strengthened Connections – Whether it was a colleague, friend, or even a stranger, I noticed how kindness deepened relationships.
    • Increased Mindfulness – It made me more aware of the good in people and everyday moments worth appreciating.
    Impact on the Recipient:
    • Immediate Joy – A smile, a heartfelt “thank you,” or a kind act visibly brightened someone’s day.
    • Encouraged a Ripple Effect – I noticed that some people, after receiving kindness, were inspired to pass it on to others.
    • Felt Valued & Acknowledged – Especially in workplaces or daily routines, a little gratitude went a long way in making people feel appreciated.
    What Surprised Me?
    • Even small gestures—like complimenting someone’s effort, holding the door open, or sending a thoughtful message—had a big impact.
    • Kindness is contagious—I saw how it created a chain reaction of positivity.
    • Sometimes, people don’t expect appreciation, so when they receive it, their genuine reaction is priceless.

    • A zero-waste lifestyle requires commitment, but even progress over perfection is impactful.

Ways to Save Water & Electricity at the Same Time
    1. Reduce Water Usage by 20% – This simple step can save nearly 1,000 gallons of water per year, reducing the energy required for water heating and purification.
    2. Switch to Cold Showers – Eliminating geyser use can save up to 600 hours of heating per year, significantly cutting electricity consumption.
💡 Secret Tip: Take showers in the morning! Since we’re usually in a hurry to get to work, we naturally spend less time in the shower—saving both water and electricity.

    Thanks

Not only Short Showers, i am now adapting cold showers, I believe reducing the shower time and not usage of geyser can significantly reduce the carbon footprint
