Alaina's actions
Health and Well-Being
Meditate
Meditation helps build resilience and clarity. I will spend 15 minutes each day to meditate or create a moment of silence each day to reflect on things important to me.
Empowering the Next Generation
Listen to Youth
Youth voices matter and deserve to be heard. I will spend 15 minutes actively listening to and learning from young people about concerns, ideas, or experiences about environmental issues, either through conversations, speeches, or media.
Community and Connection
Explore the Feed and Connect with Others
I will spend 15 minutes reading the Ecochallenge feed each day and giving high fives or commenting on posts by people who I don't know, but whose content inspires or interests me.
Sustainable Innovation
Advocate For Better Food Packaging
When companies and governments make large-scale changes to their products and practices, it makes sustainability more accessible to the masses, in turn creating further demand for sustainable products, and the cycle continues. I will advocate for improved, sustainable food packaging through petitions, letters, or by supporting brands that prioritize eco-friendly packaging - and share my advocacy actions on the feed.
Health and Well-Being
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 45 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Community and Connection
Invite a coworker to join Ecochallenge
As a team, we can accomplish so much more, so let's grow our ATG team of Ecochallengers!
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Alaina Drouin 4/10/2025 12:45 PMI just started my ecochallenge journey today, but I am so excited to connect with others, share knowledge, and learn more. I can't wait to hear from everyone. Drop a fun and/or depressing environmental fun fact below. I'll start.
For my interesting fun fact: Anglerfish males are smaller than females and when they meet their match, they bite to latch on and eventually they will fuse together for life.
For my depressing fact: ~70% of the managed bees in the U.S. have died in the past 8 months. If anytime, now is the time to support your local beekeepers.-

Love the random facts!
Interesting fun fact: Recycling one aluminum can saves enough energy to power a TV for about three hours.
Depressing fact: A plastic bottle can take up to 450 years to decompose in a marine environment.

REFLECTION QUESTIONEmpowering the Next GenerationWhat perspectives or ideas did you hear from young people, and how did they challenge or expand your understanding of environmental issues? Did anything surprise you that they had to say?
Alaina Drouin 4/10/2025 11:25 AMTheir main concerns were based around the government and its lack of urgency to act upon topics like climate change, environmental education, microplastics, and water usage and distribution. A lot of the time I forget that the youth is not required to learn about environmental issues and injustices. They use required learning topics like government and health in which they then lightly connect to the environment. The lack of environmental knowledge surprises me the most. There is a disconnect between the topics they know and are required to learn and the environment. Its these gaps that I am happy to fill in order to see what their new aspirations are and what they create with them. Sharing is caring. I might have a new gardener on my hands.
