  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Land, Water, and Air
Where in your life do you emit the most carbon? What change are you willing to make in your daily life to reduce this output?

After using the carbon calculator resources provided, it seems that I contribute to carbon emission mostly through travel. Even though I drive my car just once a week on average, owning a vehicle that runs on gas clearly hurts the environment a great deal. I was also surprised to see how much air travel played a factor. Over the past year, I have taken several round-trip flights for weddings, and including that in these calculations caused the biggest spike in my carbon output. To make the proper reductions, I am willing reduce short-distance car travel whenever possible and consider alternate forms of transportation for long-distance travel.

The lowest emissions for long distance travel is by bus/motor coach (other than driving an personal electric vehicle). See this report: https://www.ucs.org/sites/default/files/2019-10/greentravel_slick_opt_web.pdf (note written prior to wide availability of EVs.)
