Each day, I will spend 30 minutes exploring a new area around my neighborhood (e.g., park, water body, nearby trail, community garden, green space, etc.).

Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

Lisa Doherty 10/17/2023 8:51 AMI joined the Ecochallenge because there are so many different actions an individual can take to make an impact. The Ecochallenge categories and corresponding activities provides realistic goals to reach. Many of which don't take much time. Being good to the planet, at times, can seem like a daunting task. So much to do! By keeping track of my individual habits and viewing activities completed by my team mates makes me believe we can help the environment. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & Livelihood Host or Join a Cleanup EventHow does working with others to clean up your community make you feel?
Lisa Doherty 4/28/2023 2:36 PMIt is nice to have a connection with others that share the same purpose. Added bonus is that the side of a brook or a park is more beautiful as a result. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Equity Spend Time OutsideWhat are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?
Lisa Doherty 4/24/2023 5:16 AMThe fresh air and being outside really helps to provide new perspectives and gives a person the opportunity to hit the 'reset button'. When your closed off inside or on screens, it can be detrimental to mental health. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & Ecosystems Plant a TreeHow is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?
Lisa Doherty 4/24/2023 5:12 AMWe planted trees for Earth Day. The dogwoods will be beautiful in the spring when they flower, simply makes a person feel good looking at them. Physically it was a bit challenging since it is at the beginning of the planting season and it helped to put the gardening muscles back into shape. It is always great to get out and connect with nature. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & Livelihood Work-Life BalanceHow does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?
Lisa Doherty 4/03/2023 2:36 PMIt helps me to concentrate on what I need to do and not running around to complete different tasks. Have more focus. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate & Ecosystems Explore My AreaHow can spending more time outdoors enhance your sense of place? Was there a new place in your region that was exciting to learn about and visit?
Lisa Doherty 4/03/2023 2:34 PMEnjoyed all of the fresh and new spring flowers coming up, really pretty -
Lisa Doherty 4/03/2023 5:55 AMI've been a participant in the Ecochallenge for the past few years. There are so many activities that you can do to incorporate into your daily routine that will make a big impact. Please give it a try. I joined because I wanted to learn how I could make a difference in changing the environment around me. It worked, I was able to make changes in my habits. A simple one was reducing the amount of plastic I was using such as water bottles, zip lock bags, plastic bags and moving to more eco-friendly options.-
Jamie Damato 4/07/2023 7:26 AMWell said. Small actions make big impacts.
