Health and Well-Being
Reduce Refined Sugar
Cutting back on refined sugar can improve energy, mood, and overall health. I will limit my intake of sugary snacks and drinks by reducing refined sugar in meals or snacks each day.
Health and Well-Being
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 10 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Health and Well-Being
Meditate
Meditation helps build resilience and clarity. I will spend 5 minutes each day to meditate or create a moment of silence each day to reflect on things important to me.
Health and Well-Being
Enjoy Fruits and Veggies
Adding fruits and vegetables to our meals nourishes our body and the planet. I will prepare and enjoy 5 servings of a variety of colorful fruits and veggies.
Health and Well-Being
Go Get a Check Up
Regular health check-ups help prevent problems before they start. I will schedule or attend a medical, dental, or mental health check-up to take care of my well-being.
Health and Well-Being
Enjoy the Outdoors for 30 Minutes
Studies have shown that when we spend consistent time in nature, our health improves, our creativity increases, and our connection to the planet gets stronger. Each day of the Ecochallenge, I will spend 30 minutes outside, then share my observations, reflections, and learnings on the feed.
Health and Well-Being
Prepare for Extreme Weather
Extreme weather events like hurricanes, wildfires, and floods can disrupt lives and upend our communities. I will take proactive steps to prepare for extreme weather by safeguarding my home and creating or updating an emergency plan and kit with essential supplies, evacuation routes, and contact information.

Leslie Dinkin 4/23/2025 8:58 AMMy focus this month was on self-care. I'm doing pretty well, with a hiccup now and then. My life coach says to forgive yourself and let yourself off the hook when you miss the mark. Just keep your eye on the present task in front of you.-

- 17-DAY STREAK
I think self care is one of the hardest things to do. There is always something/someone else that is vying for our attention. Great job looking out for yourself!

Leslie Dinkin 4/23/2025 8:55 AMThe actual challenge was okay. One of the things I picked isn't a daily habit but happens on an as-needed basis--that one is the hardest. I have some difficulty using the website every day because reporting my progress isn't that important to me. I don't want to be online everyday (that's a different challenge!).-

Leslie Dinkin 4/13/2025 2:49 PMI'm a little under the weather today, so I didn't go to my usual Sunday yoga class. Hopefully I can go next week. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingWhat did you observe or experience while spending time outside, and how did it affect you? How does connecting with nature enhance your physical and mental well-being?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet? What fruits or vegetables did you try this week, and which was your favorite?
Leslie Dinkin 4/03/2025 9:24 AMI had a Chinese stir fry, with snow peas, broccoli, carrots, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, onions, zucchini. I had another dish with peas and carrots, and a third with onions and bell peppers. Even my frozen dinner included a serving of ratatouille, with eggplant, tomato, etc. I had mandarin oranges, apples, raisins, a nectarine, and strawberries. They are all my favorites -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingWhat did you notice about your thoughts or emotions during or after meditation? Did you find it easy or challenging to meditate?
Leslie Dinkin 4/03/2025 9:17 AMSometimes it's easy, sometimes it's difficult. If I am listening to a calm guided meditation, I sometimes fall asleep. Walking meditation is good, and I know I can improve my concentration using the method of Thich Nhat Hahn, saying, "Kissing the Earth, Kissing the Earth," with my steps. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingHow did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?
-
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now? What was the most challenging part of reducing refined sugar, and how did you overcome it?
Leslie Dinkin 4/03/2025 9:10 AMReducing sugar seems easier than quitting cold turkey. I bought one sugary snack instead of five per week. My emotional eating pattern is still there, however. I switched to different sources of high-glycemic index foods. Processed rice crackers. Raisins. So I don't feel successful yet.-
