My ecochallenge drawdown is going well so far -- have committed to several one time actions as well as daily walks and only consuming meat 1-2x per week.  The daily walks & vegetarian/vegan diet has been easily attainable as it is already part of our household routine.

What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

We notice the beautiful nature all around us on our walks!  We really enjoy the variety of trees, plants, and flowers as well as wildlife as we walk along the river by our house - many birds, frogs, etc.  The infrastructures that make our walks enjoyable is the proximity to home, the path along the river for walking/running/cycling, and the untouched nature that gives you the feeling of a peaceful escape every day.

Why do people in richer countries eat more meat than people in other places? How does eating more meat affect our bodies, our planet, and other people?

One reason people in richer countries consume more meat is the high cost of raising animals and producing/packaging meat.  Planet is affected by meat consumption since cattle and other similar animals release the greenhouse gas methane as a byproduct through their digestive systems.

Till I took the ecochallenge, I had not realized how much impact we can make on our carbon footprint by reducing food waste and eating a vegetarian diet.

I recently read an article in the Atlantic that said that by I) eliminating food waste and III) eating a vegetarian diet, your carbon footprint reduction would be twice as much as it would be if u did all the 4 things below combined

      Put solar on your roof
      Drive electric car
Replace all your bulbs with less
      Recycle everything u can
