David's actions
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Monitor Bird migrations
I have been using the cornell app to monitor bird migrations while on my walk.
Land + Forests
Explore My Area
When we explore natural spaces around us, our connections with them change. I will spend 30 minutes exploring a new area around my neighborhood, office, or campus (e.g., park, water body, nearby trail, community garden, green space, etc.).
Climate + Air
Write Letters or Emails
I will gather a group of friends, family, neighbors or colleagues and write 1 letters or emails to public officials or companies to advocate for planet-friendly policies.
Action Track: Community
Keep My Community Clean
At times it may not feel like it's up to us to keep our community clean and healthy, but we all have a role to play. Each day I am outside, I will pick up any litter I see.
Land + Forests
Regenerative Agriculture and Me
Regenerative agriculture focuses on farming and ranching in a way that supports life and restores the soil. I will spend 15 minutes learning about regenerative agriculture and find out if any nearby farms practice regenerative agriculture.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Learn about Native Species
The world is full of unique species. I will spend 15 minutes each day learning what the native plants and wildlife are in my region.
Land + Forests
30 for 30 in Nature
Studies have shown that when we spend consistent time in nature, our health improves, our creativity increases, and our connection to the planet gets stronger. Each day of the Ecochallenge, I will spend 30 minutes outside (in a large or small patch of nature), then share my observations, reflections, and learnings on the feed.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONClimate + Air Write Letters or EmailsHow might thinking creatively help us address big systems problems - like plastic pollution - differently?
David Curtis 4/27/2024 5:31 PMI have been using a tool from PETA to reach out to all lawmakers local and national to raise awareness of animal agriculture and its impact on the planet. -
David Curtis 4/27/2024 5:29 PMMy son and I spent an hour clearing debris at a reservoir at the end of our street! We also cleared all the beer cans from the area (waaaaay too many). -

David Curtis 4/08/2024 3:23 PMI was outside for a few hours today and picked up a bunch of litter on my little hill while watching the eclipse. I hope some of my fellow Green Spooners got a chance to experience it. Just a heads up, the next full solar eclipse can be seen from Iceland in 2026! -
David Curtis 4/05/2024 10:24 AMHey all- If you are in the path for the eclipse this coming Monday, be aware of the animals around you. Here is a fantastic post I read last night. https://news.syr.edu/blog/2024/04/02/experiencing-the-solar-eclipse-from-an-animals-perspective/#:~:text=By%20and%20large%2C%20researchers%20have,as%20most%20cicadas%2C%20may%20stop.-
Michelle Ryan 4/09/2024 4:22 AMThanks for sharing. Funny, I heard the birds during the end of the eclipse but not after. The birds around us sing all day and I never even noticed they were quiet yesterday evening. Crazy.
And our pittie was extra barky - she was super eclipsed out lol.
