Understand My Water Footprint

Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.

I'm still working on my plastics audit. Yesterday, I completed a trash audit to better understand what we're throwing away. My next step is to explore alternatives, starting with five commonly discarded ones. I’ll then share these findings with my family so we can all work toward reducing plastic waste together.

I read about how to conduct a plastics audit and found the tools and spreadsheets provided especially helpful in guiding the process. However, I realized that completing a full audit of my household will require more than a day.

Just learned about nocturnal pollinators, and wow, I had no idea! Moths, bats, beetles, and even fireflies work the night shift to keep ecosystems thriving. Nature never sleeps!

Based on my experience of using PlantPaper toilette paper for the past six months, I believe the company is genuinely trying to be sustainable. They use bamboo instead of trees, avoid harmful chemicals, and use plastic-free packaging, which makes me feel better about both health and environmental impact.

There’s real opportunity for PlantPaper to expand into other eco-friendly bathroom products and educate consumers about the hidden impacts of traditional paper. They could also offer starter kits or rewards to encourage more people to make the switch, because cost is a barrier, as their papers are more expensive than regular ones.

What I take from this is that small, thoughtful choices matter, and that we can apply the same mindset to encourage better, healthier products through transparency and care.
