Action Track: Community
Volunteer in my Community
I will volunteer 100 hours in my community.
Land + Forests
Keep My Community Clean
At times it may not feel like it's up to us to keep our community clean and healthy, but we all have a role to play. Each day I am outside, I will pick up any litter I see.
Action Track: Community
Join a Cleanup Effort
I will organize or participate in a trash pickup at a local river, beach, or natural body of water.
Land + Forests
Explore My Area
When we explore natural spaces around us, our connections with them change. I will spend 300 minutes exploring a new area around my neighborhood, office, or campus (e.g., park, water body, nearby trail, community garden, green space, etc.).
Land + Forests
30 for 30 in Nature
Studies have shown that when we spend consistent time in nature, our health improves, our creativity increases, and our connection to the planet gets stronger. Each day of the Ecochallenge, I will spend 30 minutes outside (in a large or small patch of nature), then share my observations, reflections, and learnings on the feed.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Community Volunteer in my CommunityHow does volunteering enhance your community and/or change your relationship with it?
Louis Cordero 4/15/2024 6:07 AMVolunteering holds a special place in my life, it allows me to actively contribute to both individuals and communities in meaningful ways. Currently, my family and I participate in volunteer activities through work (ODP Business Solutions), through my alumni association, and through the Girl Scouts. What I particularly enjoy is the networking and being able to set a positive example for my kids who also volunteer. Volunteering provides our family a different perspective on our community. I think it is an important lesson to share, like many aspects of life, sometimes all it takes to make a difference is showing up! :) -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Community Join a Cleanup EffortHow does working with others to clean up your community make you feel? What results did you see? Please consider posting a photo of your cleanup!

Event (sharepoint.com) -
Louis Cordero 4/04/2024 4:32 AMIt's been months since I last walked or jogged at the park near my home. The excuse of being 'too busy' became the norm, and I fell out of our routine. I finally made the time, and wow, I almost forgot how incredible it feels to reconnect with nature and neighbors. Thanks for the push, eco-challenge! It's refreshing to rediscover beauty and peacefulness just around the corner. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand + Forests 30 for 30 in NatureWhat have you noticed about how it feels to spend consistent time outside?
Louis Cordero 4/02/2024 6:39 PMI love spending time outside and walk to take a break when I have a moment. It is rejuvenating for me. :)-

REFLECTION QUESTIONLand + Forests Keep My Community CleanHow does the act of picking up litter connect you more to your community?
Louis Cordero 4/02/2024 6:32 PMI hope others see me picking up litter, and it inspires others to do the same to keep our neighborhood and our communities clean.-
Milithza Silva 4/02/2024 7:03 PMI do this all the time, in fact last month my boss was concerned because there was an alcoholic can in the office recycle and he was concerned some employee might have come to work under the influence. He came to my office to inform me we must talk to our teams to remind them working under alcohol effects was not allowed at our workplace... We both had a good laugh when I explain it was litter I picked up in the morning from the green area near the office.
