Freshwater + Oceans
Raise Awareness for the Conservation of Freshwater and Oceans
I will spend 30 minutes learning more about the importance of freshwater + ocean conservation, and how I can reduce my water use. I will share what I learn with people in person, on social media, and on the feed.
Land + Forests
Explore My Area
When we explore natural spaces around us, our connections with them change. I will spend 20 minutes exploring a new area around my neighborhood, office, or campus (e.g., park, water body, nearby trail, community garden, green space, etc.).
Action Track: Community
Borrow Before I Buy
Why buy something I will only use once or a few times if someone nearby has it for me to borrow, and why not share something I have that someone may only need a few times a year? To reduce my consumption and waste, I will create or support the sharing economy with friends, family, colleagues or neighbors.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Endangered Species
Wildlife and biodiversity play an important role on our planet and are being threatened each year. I will spend 30 minutes each day learning about the current status of local or global wildlife and how I can align my actions to support their livelihood.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONFreshwater + Oceans Raise Awareness for the Conservation of Freshwater and OceansWhat did you learn about freshwater and oceans you did not already know? In sharing this information with people in your life, which conversation was impactful to you?
Lauren Combs 4/30/2024 5:22 AMI did not know that microplastics end up in the ocean and freshwater, in our seafood and water supply, and in us. The long-term effects on our health and the environment may not be fully understood but are most likely devastating. Along with all the other chemicals and biowaste, it's no wonder we have increasing cancer, autism and other illnesses. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBiodiversity + Wildlife Endangered SpeciesWhat endangered species did you learn about and what did you learn?
Lauren Combs 4/30/2024 5:15 AMI learned about the decline in biodiversity due to habitat changes throughout the world. Over 44,000 species (animal, plant, fungi) are threatened with extinction, and this has a ripple effect on all levels of the ecosystem.-

Lauren Combs 4/30/2024 5:10 AMI took a walk around the new office industrial park and enjoyed the springtime sights and sounds :-) -
Lauren Combs 4/14/2024 7:11 AMLate start but ready to focus on second half of the challenge! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Community Borrow Before I BuyHow did you participate in the sharing economy? (Consider posting a photo!) What are the benefits of a sharing economy? How could a sharing economy change the dynamics you have with friends, family and/or neighbors?
Lauren Combs 4/14/2024 6:30 AMI visited our local library to borrow Black Sails, a pirate series set in Nassau in 1715. Great way to support sustainability, our local library, and save money!
