I learned that in Hawaii, when you go swimming or scuba diving, do not touch or disturb the wildlife. When I book a scuba diving spot to pick on with that warns people that they are not allowed to touch the wildlife.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife
How did your experience go in trying an action to Leave No Trace? Did you notice others doing the same, or not? From a perspective of having empathy for others, why might people not adhere to the Leave No Trace principles?

When I went on a hike, I picked up my own as well as any other trash that I found on the trail. Most hikers did as well, and there were still some who left their trash. These people might not have thought of it or had just forgotten to take it with them.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Wildlife

Pollinators make it so that flowers and the food that we grow thrive. I can call bee removers to collect them instead of using chemicals that will kill them.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Sustainable Innovation
What does your vision of a sustainable community look like? What would need to be changed in order for that vision to become reality?

My vision of a sustainable community is to use energy as efficiently as possible. This can be achieved through switching to LED lights. They are not only energy efficient but also, in the summer, keep heat down ever so slightly.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Sustainable Innovation
How did replacing old bulbs with LED bulbs make you feel about reducing your energy consumption? What other small energy-saving actions could you take to reduce your environmental impact?

I replaced the 3 light bulbs in the kitchen and the 2 light bulbs in the main hallway. These are the most used lights in my house, therefore, this should make a relatively large impact. Another way to save energy is to turn off the lights you aren't using.

I checked and restocked my first aid kit. I made sure I had food and water by it for when I run out of the house. In emergencies, grabbing a pillow case to grab things is the most effective.

Both sides of my teeth had been hurting for the past few weeks. When I went to the doctor, they said that I would need to get my wisdom tooth removed. So I am feeling super stressed about that.

The most unexpected piece of trash was a car tire. It was fun, some of us brought metal detectors and found jewelry that was left in the sand. We also got ice cream afterwards
