    I reminded my children on how to respond when there's an extreme weather event. We recently had a tornado warning where the sirens went off. My children knew to go to the basement for safety.

      That is important to teach them, because you never know where one may strike and just practicing at school doesn't prepare them for being out in public or other areas when a tornado hits.

      Here are some tips for extream summer, where summers are typically hot and humid:
      Staying Cool & Healthy:
      • Drink lots of water.
      • Wear light, loose clothes.
      • Stay out of the sun during midday (11 AM - 4 PM).
      • Use sunscreen, hats, and sunglasses.
      • Keep your home cool (close curtains, use fans).
      • Take cool showers.
      • Eat light meals.
      • Watch out for heat sickness.
      Summer Skincare:
      • Wash your face regularly.
      • Use light moisturizer.
      • Protect your lips with SPF.

    Instead of having my television on a show that would keep me from wanting to fall asleep, I put on something that relaxes me so that I fall asleep faster and stay asleep.

      I think of a calm word, then I slowly find five more words that start with the first letter, then five words with the second letter and I seldom get beyond three letters before I'm asleep.

    Replaced our lemonade with an organic lemonade. It feels good knowing that I'm providing a healthier option for my family.

    Eating more fruits and vegetables will improve my personal health and the environment. It also reduce the risk of diseases, provide better weight management, and contribute to global food security. Today I ate an organic banana and had a salad with dinner.
