Carolyn's actions

Health and Well-Being

Exercise Daily

Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 60 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.

COMPLETED 9
DAILY ACTIONS

Health and Well-Being

Enjoy the Outdoors for 30 Minutes

Studies have shown that when we spend consistent time in nature, our health improves, our creativity increases, and our connection to the planet gets stronger. Each day of the Ecochallenge, I will spend 30 minutes outside, then share my observations, reflections, and learnings on the feed.

COMPLETED 7
DAILY ACTIONS

Health and Well-Being

Reduce Refined Sugar

Cutting back on refined sugar can improve energy, mood, and overall health. I will limit my intake of sugary snacks and drinks by reducing refined sugar in meals or snacks each day.

COMPLETED 1
DAILY ACTION

Wildlife

Learn to Grow Plants Your Way

Growing plants can be rewarding and can create habitats big and small for wildlife. And, we can grow things almost anywhere! I will spend 20 minutes researching options for growing plants either inside or outside.

UNCOMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Health and Well-Being

Prioritize Getting Enough Sleep

Good sleep is essential for a healthy body and mind. I will prioritize getting 60 minutes of quality sleep each night and develop a bedtime routine that supports rest and relaxation.

COMPLETED 7
DAILY ACTIONS

Wildlife

Use Reusable Bags

Plastic bags do not always end up in landfills and if they aren't properly disposed of. In nature, they can be mistaken for food by many wild animals and harm wildlife. When I go shopping, I will be sure to bring my own bags to reduce waste and the chance that plastic bags could find their way into wildlife habitats.

My swimming course is tough. It is focused on training, so we are pushed. I feel great when I get behind a computer for the day.

Before you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now? What was the most challenging part of reducing refined sugar, and how did you overcome it?

It is harder than I thought since it is hard to find products without hidden sugars. I have a sweet tooth so when I have a craving, I eat yummy fruits like peaches or blueberries.

I shared this on another post too, but one of my absolute favorite snacks is mixing peanut butter and greek yogurt (best when it's vanilla flavored!) and dipping apple slices in it. It's soooo good and full of protein but honestly kinda tastes like dessert!

I'm there with the sweet tooth, so sugar is also a challenge for me. But I was amazed when I started reading labels. And blueberries are great to put in so many things (I add them to salads!).

What did you observe or experience while spending time outside, and how did it affect you? How does connecting with nature enhance your physical and mental well-being?

In Colombia, you have to pay for plastic bags, so it just makes sense to use reusable.
