Take the Pre-Survey
Take the Pre-Event Survey
I’ll take a short pre-survey to share what motivated me to join — and earn 15 points! (If I already took the survey by email, I’ll just mark this action complete to get my points.)
Personal
Reduce Refined Sugar
Cutting back on refined sugar can improve energy, mood, and overall health. I will limit my intake of sugary snacks and drinks by reducing refined sugar in meals or snacks each day.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Contribute to Community Science
Wildlife observations can help researchers and communities understand and protect biodiversity. I will download a wildlife monitoring app and log 1 animal or plant species I discover.
Water
Take Shorter Showers
Conserving water helps protect this precious resource. I will shorten my showers to 5 minutes to save water and reduce energy use - each time saving up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water!
Personal
Prioritize Getting Enough Sleep
Good sleep is essential for a healthy body and mind. I will prioritize getting 40 minutes of quality sleep each night and develop a bedtime routine that supports rest and relaxation.
Personal
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 30 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.

REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonalBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now? What was the most challenging part of reducing refined sugar, and how did you overcome it?
Kaylah Calderon 4/13/2026 1:05 PMI was addicted to sugar but through energy drinks more than anything. After not having sugar for a while I did notice that my skin started to clear up and I started craving it less and less. The most challenging part so far has been staying away mainly from sugary drinks. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBiodiversity and WildlifeWhat species did you discover and log? Why do you think that logging species can help protect them?
Kaylah Calderon 4/01/2026 11:26 PMI started tracking a cheetah named lily. I believe logging species helps protect them because it creates a record of where they live and how common they are. This can help scientists tract over time if a species is becoming endangered and could help protect their habitats. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterHow did shortening your showers affect your awareness of water conservation? What other water-saving practices can you adopt in your daily routine?
Kaylah Calderon 4/01/2026 11:06 PMShortening my showers made me realize how much water and time I'm wasting in the shower without even realizing it. Other easy ways to save water would be turning off the sink while brushing your teeth and only running the washer when it's full instead of putting in many different loads of laundry separately.-
Magda Zawisza 4/01/2026 11:15 PMShortening my shower time gave me a real opportunity to reduce the amount of water I use. I also encouraged the other members of my household to do the same.Additionally, I introduced using a cup when rinsing after brushing teeth instead of keeping the tap running the whole time.
