Action Track: Community
Join a Cleanup Effort
I will organize or participate in a trash pickup at a local river, beach, or natural body of water.
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Use Reusable Bags
Plastic bags can be mistaken for food by many wild animals and can end up in habitats that harm wildlife. I will not accept any disposable bags when making purchases, including produce bags.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

REFLECTION QUESTIONAction Track: Community Join a Cleanup EffortHow does working with others to clean up your community make you feel? What results did you see? Please consider posting a photo of your cleanup!
Joyce Burke 4/29/2024 9:33 AMParticipated in a Buffalo-Niagara Water Keepers clean-up at Red Jacket Riverfront Park It was great have Erie County ask us to sort out the branded items so they can work toward a garbage tax. Always feels great to be outdoors and helping to make a difference. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBiodiversity + Wildlife Use Reusable BagsHow difficult was this challenge for you? What made it easy or difficult?
Joyce Burke 4/29/2024 9:27 AMVERY difficult, to eliminate plastic produce bags. Over the past 2 years I've started to reuse them multiple times and that has reduced my use. When I don't store them airtight to go limp too fast. I'd like to understand the metrics comparing using thin gallon baggies (no ziplock top) to heavier tupperware-type containers, and what are my other options?? This is a really tough one for me to solution-
