What is resilience?
Learn About Ecological Resilience
Resilience is part of how nature works. I will spend 5 minutes learning about ecological resilience—how ecosystems adapt to disturbances and renew themselves through cycles of growth and renewal.
Action Track
Plant Trees
Trees are vital for resilience, storing carbon, sheltering biodiversity, and protecting water and soil. I will plant 4 trees in my yard, community, or through a local project to help ecosystems adapt and thrive.
What is resilience?
Reflect on My Own Resilience
Resilience is personal and collective. I will reflect on a time when I adapted to change in my own life, writing down what helped me and what I learned from the experience.
Take the Pre-Survey
Take the Pre-Event Survey
I’ll take a short pre-survey to share what motivated me to join — and earn 15 points! (If I already took the survey by email, I’ll just mark this action complete to get my points.)
Community
Support Local Businesses
Supporting local businesses helps keep communities vibrant and resilient. I will choose to shop at 1 local businesses or restaurants, with a focus on businesses owned by people of color, local farmers, or community members.
Work and Organizations
Recognize Someone’s Contribution
Recognition strengthens trust and connection. I will recognize 1 people in my organization for their contributions, showing appreciation that helps build resilience and morale.

I definitely added more sleep on Saturday. We're empty nesters although we have our grandkids frequently for weekends and sometimes weeks at a time. This past weekend was just us and I was exhausted. I fell asleep at 5 PM. I briefly woke up at 9 PM, drank a smoothie with protein added, and went back to bed until 7 AM the next morning. I wish I could do that more often.-

My grandson today started a spring vacation camp at a local 4H farm that supports connection with the land and teaches kids sustainable practices. The farm teaches environmental stewardship. I'm so excited for him to attend camp, and the best part is so is he! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONWhat is resilience? What personal strengths or supports helped you adapt to a past challenge? How might those same strengths help you in the future?
Jeanne Brown-Williams 4/09/2026 7:18 AMA personal strength that helped me adapt to a past challenge is willingness to learn. I am a lifelong learner and try to approach challenges as a new opportunity rather than a road block. I am a nurse by career and have found that (1) there is often more than 1 right way to do something, (2) even after years of doing something, there is often a different way to do it that is better. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunityWhat did you learn about the businesses or owners you supported? How does shopping locally contribute to a more vibrant and resilient community?

I have shopped local businesses for years. I prefer to support my neighbor than support a corporation.-

I joined this challenge to reinvigorate my quest to leave the world in a better place than I found it. I am always looking for better ways and new ways to lower my carbon footprint. I am hoping to find fun learning experiences that I can pass on to my grandchildren so they can grow up learning the importance of honoring the earth and keeping it health.
