Jacob's actions
Personal
Prioritize Getting Enough Sleep
Good sleep is essential for a healthy body and mind. I will prioritize getting 60 minutes of quality sleep each night and develop a bedtime routine that supports rest and relaxation.
Work and Organizations
Recognize Someone’s Contribution
Recognition strengthens trust and connection. I will recognize 2 people in my organization for their contributions, showing appreciation that helps build resilience and morale.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Remove Invasive Species
Removing invasive species (species that are not naturally found in my area and can outcompete native plants) can help beautify nature around me and protect local biodiversity. I will learn about invasive plants in my area and, if possible, support or participate in at least one effort to beautify nature near me by removing invasive species.
Work and Organizations
Reduce Waste in My Organization
Waste reduction supports both ecological and organizational resilience. I will work with others to conduct a waste audit and reduce waste in my organization, such as paper, plastics, or energy use.
Take the Pre-Survey
Take the Pre-Event Survey
I’ll take a short pre-survey to share what motivated me to join — and earn 15 points! (If I already took the survey by email, I’ll just mark this action complete to get my points.)
Personal
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 30 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.

Here at Indiana University Health, we are committed to sustainability through our dedicated sustainability team and our IU Health Green Team! For 2026 we are working towards Energy Use Intensity (EUI) and waste reduction/recycling goals, increasing employee education and engagement on sustainability topics, and increasing single use device (SUD) collection rates. We are looking forward to this challenge for tips on how to be more sustainable in our personal and professional lives!-

thanks for leading the charge, Jake! I'm so glad to hear about the emphasis on energy use reduction. I've found that actions such as turning off lights and powering down my work station when not in use have promoted better mental health at work and work/life balance. So many benefits. GREEN IS GOLD!
