Reduce Food Waste
Wasting food also wastes water, energy, and resources. I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during the Ecochallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation, and commit to reducing my food waste throughout the challenge.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlifeAre you a gardener or house plant lover? Why or why not? What do you need to elevate your plant care skills?
Colin Brammer 4/18/2025 5:27 AMLove plants, grew up with a house full of them. I need to practice and lean the best times of year to plant certain things, and how to prevent pests such as whiteflies from taking over, while not using pesticides. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirAn average American throws out about 240 lbs of food per year. The average family of four spends $1,500 a year on food that they throw out. Where would you rather use this money? What patterns did you notice in the food you threw away, and how can you address them?
Colin Brammer 4/16/2025 10:38 AMI do not throw food away. I only buy what I can consume, and consume what I make - I like leftovers! If I had the extra money I would save it. less consumerism. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirWhat surprised you most about your water footprint, and how did it influence your perspective on water use? What changes can you make to reduce your water consumption, and how will these impact your daily routine?
Colin Brammer 4/15/2025 7:36 AMI was surprised that driving used so much water - due to water to produce gasoline. I will shower less and find alternate transportation when I can -

REFLECTION QUESTIONWildlifeHow do pollinators impact your daily life, and what changes can you make to ensure they continue to thrive?
Colin Brammer 4/14/2025 7:10 AMI have an apiary of Apis mellifera, so it is daily enjoyment; I also appreciate and landscape to harbor all the native cavity and ground nesting solitary bees - no bark mulch only shredded leaves; sandy areas for other ground nesters, leave tree snags and put up cavity filled wood for cavity nesters. From herbs that are pollinated by sweat bees to the squash bees that work on the cucurbits, pollination is super important. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingWhat did you notice about your thoughts or emotions during or after meditation? Did you find it easy or challenging to meditate?
Colin Brammer 4/10/2025 8:23 AMIt was extremely challenging to stop the thoughts. had to do it in bits. felt better afterward. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingHow does eating more fruits and vegetables and less meat positively affect yourself, other people, and our planet? What fruits or vegetables did you try this week, and which was your favorite?
Colin Brammer 4/06/2025 5:11 AMBy not eating meat and just focusing on fruits and vegetables, I don't feel as bogged down. I enjoy kale and broccoli the most, but any of the cruciferous vegetables are home on my plate. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingHow did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?
Colin Brammer 4/06/2025 5:08 AMI generally start the day off with a run. It helps clear my mind for the day, and I generally just feel better when I do run. I pair this with other exercise for overall body well being. I feel off if I do not get some sort of physical activity in every day.
