Water

Learn About Water and Climate Change

Water is one of the most visible ways climate change impacts our lives. I will spend 30 minutes learning how climate change affects water in my region and explore actions that can help people and ecosystems adapt.

DAILY ACTIONS

Biodiversity and Wildlife

Reduce Light Pollution

Too much artificial light can confuse and harm animals, especially those active at night. I will reduce sources of outdoor light or switch to wildlife-friendly fixtures to support healthy habitats.

ONE-TIME ACTION

Biodiversity and Wildlife

Contribute to Community Science

Wildlife observations can help researchers and communities understand and protect biodiversity. I will download a wildlife monitoring app and log 1 animal or plant species I discover.

DAILY ACTIONS

Biodiversity and Wildlife

Learn to Be a Responsible Pet Owner

Being a responsible pet owner means minimizing the impact pets have on wildlife by keeping them indoors, never setting them 'free' into nature, and supervising pets when they are outside to prevent them from hunting or disturbing wild animals. This also keeps our pets safe from harm. I will spend 30 minutes learning about ways to ensure my pet’s behavior and care practices protect local wildlife and their ecosystems.

Take the Pre-Survey

Take the Pre-Event Survey

I’ll take a short pre-survey to share what motivated me to join — and earn 15 points! (If I already took the survey by email, I’ll just mark this action complete to get my points.)

COMPLETED
ONE-TIME ACTION

Water

Understand My Water Footprint

Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.

ONE-TIME ACTION

Water

Take Shorter Showers

Conserving water helps protect this precious resource. I will shorten my showers to 5 minutes to save water and reduce energy use - each time saving up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water!

COMPLETED 14
DAILY ACTIONS

Soil and Food

Enjoy a Meatless Meal

Producing 1 kg of beef emits as much greenhouse gas as driving 150 miles, meanwhile, 1 kg of veggies or grains leaves a much lighter footprint! This week, I’ll shrink my climate impact by having 1 meatless meals meals each day.

I logged a snow leopard named Nala. I think logging animals can help protect them because it spreads more knowledge on what's they're greatest threat and learn the animals story along with it.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Soil and Food
What meal did you enjoy the most, and what alternatives did you try? Did anything surprise you about how satisfying plant-based options can be?

I had oatmeal for breakfast rather than my regular breakfast burrito and I say it was kinda feeling but not entirely still got hungry later in the morning so I would add other healthy alternative food to make it more filling.
