Dano's actions
Health and Well-Being
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 60 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Community and Connection
Explore My Area
Discovering what’s nearby fosters a deeper connection to my community. I will explore 5 new places in my area, such as parks, historical sites, or local businesses.
Community and Connection
Keep My Community Clean
A clean community benefits everyone. Each day I am outside, I will pick up 10 pieces of litter to keep my community clean.
Community and Connection
Support Local Businesses
Supporting local businesses helps keep communities vibrant and resilient. I will choose to shop at 5 local businesses or restaurants, with a focus on businesses owned by people of color, local farmers, or community members.
Land, Water, and Air
Understand My Water Footprint
Each of us has a water footprint, directly linked to our daily activities as well as the water required in the production of things we use each day. Understanding our water use is important for a healthy planet. I will calculate my water footprint and look for a few ways I can reduce consumption or waste, then share what I learned on the feed.
Empowering the Next Generation
Enjoy the Environment with Youth
Experiencing nature together builds appreciation and connection. I will spend 60 minutes enjoying an outdoor activity with a young person, such as hiking, visiting a park or nature center, or exploring a trail.
Health and Well-Being
Reduce Refined Sugar
Cutting back on refined sugar can improve energy, mood, and overall health. I will limit my intake of sugary snacks and drinks by reducing refined sugar in meals or snacks each day.
Health and Well-Being
Go Get a Check Up
Regular health check-ups help prevent problems before they start. I will schedule or attend a medical, dental, or mental health check-up to take care of my well-being.
Community and Connection
Invite a coworker to join Ecochallenge
As a team, we can accomplish so much more, so let's grow our ATG team of Ecochallengers!
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingBefore you started this challenge, did you think you were 'addicted' to sugar? How do you feel now? What was the most challenging part of reducing refined sugar, and how did you overcome it?
Dano Boreman 4/10/2025 6:24 AMReducing sugar was difficult. Not as difficult as quitting smoking, but the body definitely craves it. The most difficult part was changing my mindset from "replacing" sweets to just eliminating them from my diet. I feel SO much better though, both physically and mentally. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingWhat motivated you to schedule or attend your check-up, and how did it make you feel afterward that you completed this action?
Dano Boreman 4/10/2025 6:23 AMI'm not getting any younger! I want to make sure that I stick around for my family. It felt good receiving a (mostly) clean bill of health. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity and ConnectionWhat new places or experiences did you discover in your local area? How has exploring your community changed your perspective or sense of connection?
Dano Boreman 4/08/2025 6:13 AMFound a new (to me) hiking trail. Always love finding new spots to get a hike in and enjoy some nature! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONLand, Water, and AirWhat surprised you most about your water footprint, and how did it influence your perspective on water use? What changes can you make to reduce your water consumption, and how will these impact your daily routine?
Dano Boreman 4/08/2025 6:12 AMThe average person used between 80 to 100 gallons of water per day. Being under a drought, I have made an effort to reduce my water usage where I can but it was still shocking to learn how much water is used daily. Finding ways to cut usage! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity and ConnectionHow did keeping your community more clean connect you more to your local area? Did picking up litter change your perspective on the cleanliness of your community?
Dano Boreman 4/04/2025 8:39 AMWe spent some time cleaning up our local softball fields. It is shocking the amount of trash people leave behind. Our softball fields only employ a handful of volunteers, not enough to handle the amount of trash left behind. My kids are spending time educating their friends of the impact on our community.-

- 17-DAY STREAK
So relatable! Playing softball for 10 years, I vividly remember our coaches and parents instilling that same sense of responsibility and awareness. Picking up after ourselves, respecting the space - those lessons stuck with me, way beyond the dugout and field! -

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth and Well-BeingHow did exercising each day impact your physical or mental well-being? What activity did you enjoy most, and why?
Dano Boreman 4/04/2025 8:25 AMExercising helps me to decompress and relieve stress. I enjoy playing catch with my wife and kids, going for hikes and training Jiu Jitsu. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONCommunity and ConnectionWhat did you learn about the businesses or owners you supported? How does shopping locally contribute to a more vibrant and resilient community?
Dano Boreman 4/04/2025 8:24 AMAs my town continues to grow and more chain businesses are introduced, we talked to local business owners to see how this growth has impacted business. My family makes sure to keep our money local to ensure the success of our friends and neighbors!
