Biodiversity and Wildlife
Reduce Light Pollution
Too much artificial light can confuse and harm animals, especially those active at night. I will reduce sources of outdoor light or switch to wildlife-friendly fixtures to support healthy habitats.
Personal
Prioritize Getting Enough Sleep
Good sleep is essential for a healthy body and mind. I will prioritize getting 60 minutes of quality sleep each night and develop a bedtime routine that supports rest and relaxation.
Biodiversity and Wildlife
Learn to Be a Responsible Pet Owner
Being a responsible pet owner means minimizing the impact pets have on wildlife by keeping them indoors, never setting them 'free' into nature, and supervising pets when they are outside to prevent them from hunting or disturbing wild animals. This also keeps our pets safe from harm. I will spend 30 minutes learning about ways to ensure my pet’s behavior and care practices protect local wildlife and their ecosystems.
Water
Take Shorter Showers
Conserving water helps protect this precious resource. I will shorten my showers to 5 minutes to save water and reduce energy use - each time saving up to 20 gallons (75 L) of water!
Work and Organizations
Reduce Waste in My Organization
Waste reduction supports both ecological and organizational resilience. I will work with others to conduct a waste audit and reduce waste in my organization, such as paper, plastics, or energy use.
Take the Pre-Survey
Take the Pre-Event Survey
I’ll take a short pre-survey to share what motivated me to join — and earn 15 points! (If I already took the survey by email, I’ll just mark this action complete to get my points.)
Water
Save Water When Washing Dishes
Dishwashers can save water — if used wisely. I will only run the dishwasher when it’s full and skip the pre-rinse to reduce water and energy use. If I don't have a dishwasher, I will turn off the tap as often as possible while washing dishes.

Virgilio Marin-Valderrabano 4/24/2026 10:41 AMThat is a great idea: the new generations can—and should—work alongside other generations to create this small garden and, more importantly, to learn about what they are growing—and perhaps eat it. It is a wonderful experience for future generations.

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterHow did shortening your showers affect your awareness of water conservation? What other water-saving practices can you adopt in your daily routine?
Emily Bell 4/22/2026 5:42 AMSetting a timer for every shower to make sure I'm not dilly dallying in the warm water! A little reminder goes a long way.-

REFLECTION QUESTIONBiodiversity and WildlifeWhat lights did you reduce or change, and how might this help wildlife near you?
Emily Bell 4/06/2026 7:51 AMI love natural light. Plus, it's free! I need to keep this goal in mind when visiting, traveling, or meeting with friends and family. I think this goal is an important one to share. While this may be easy for me, it may not come as easily to others. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBiodiversity and WildlifeWhat actions can you take to ensure your pets do not harm local wildlife? How does being a responsible pet owner contribute to the well-being of both your pets and the environment?
Emily Bell 4/06/2026 7:47 AMToday I read this article from the National Wildlife Federation, Who Really Benefits from Bird Feeders? .-

I really appreciate this post. There are many ways to support nature and it is important to be aware of potential side effects of well-intentioned activities, to make sure we are truly achieving what we hope for

REFLECTION QUESTIONWaterHow did changing your dishwashing habits make you more mindful of water use? What other small changes can you make to conserve water in your household?
Emily Bell 4/06/2026 7:43 AMEasy goal for me! No washing dishes? I'm in. I think this goal also goes hand in hand with making sure we are doing full loads of laundry. No dirty towels left behind. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONPersonalHow did improving your sleep affect your energy, focus, or mood? What role does rest play in helping you feel more balanced and capable of handling challenges?
Emily Bell 4/06/2026 7:40 AMFinding the fine line between not enough and too much sleep is difficult! Distractions come into play often and slowing down isn't always as easy as it seems. I'm working with my body to build a sleep schedule that gets me up on time and ready for the day. -
Emily Bell 4/06/2026 7:37 AMThe sun is shining and I have my eco goals in mind! Looking forward to challenging myself this month!
