What is resilience?
Learn About Ecological Resilience
Resilience is part of how nature works. I will spend 10 minutes learning about ecological resilience—how ecosystems adapt to disturbances and renew themselves through cycles of growth and renewal.
What is resilience?
Explore Resilience in Nature
Resilience is all around us in the natural world. I will spend 10 minutes outdoors looking for examples of resilience—such as plants regrowing, animals adapting, or seasonal cycles—and reflect on what they teach about thriving through change.
Personal
Meditate
Meditation helps build resilience and clarity. I will spend 30 minutes each day to meditate or create a moment of silence each day to reflect on things important to me.
Personal
Enjoy Fruits and Veggies
Eating a wide variety of colorful fruits and vegetables is a simple way to boost our personal health and support a more resilient food system. I will prepare and enjoy 5 servings of fruits and vegetables each day.
Personal
Exercise Daily
Daily movement supports our physical and mental health. I will spend 60 minutes each day exercising in a way that feels good to me, such as walking, running, stretching, or dancing.
Soil and Food
Learn How to Save Pollinators
Bees and other pollinators are vital to ecosystems and agriculture. I will spend 30 minutes learning how to support local pollinators and take at least one action—such as planting native flowers or avoiding pesticides—to help sustain resilient ecosystems and harvests.

That’s a great step toward organizing your garden space. Transplanting the raspberries into containers is a smart way to control their spread, and building planter boxes shows real progress in creating a more structured and manageable garden.

That is really cool, do you go to any Tree Pittsburgh events? I have a bunch of their local shrubs in my yard.

Elaine Baker 4/10/2026 1:17 PMMy neighbor graciously bought mulch, all I had to do was spread it. This helps to retain moisture to reduce my water usage.-

Anika Rajesh 4/10/2026 1:19 PMThat's fantastic! Mulching is also important for reducing soil erosion and moderating soil temperature for better plant survival.

Same here! I notice such a great physical change when I add greens in to my diet. When I am at my best is when I make my morning smoothies that have the daily servings of greens mixed in.

Elaine Baker 4/03/2026 11:05 AMI am working on transforming my front yard into a garden space. I do not like to waste water on a "lawn". I am adding space for more fruit and vegetables.-

I've never thought of planting garden in my front yard, but then again I don't trust the kids in the neighborhood to stay out of it. -
Kristina Franklin 4/03/2026 4:31 PMI did this several years ago. It is so rewarding! Right now I'm watching my rhubarb coming back after the winter, in a space that used to be lawn.
