"To help create awareness about our individual footprints and how minor adjustments to the most ubiquitous actions we take can have a positive impact - very similar to how the Intelex software does this for our customers!"

John's actions
Biodiversity + Wildlife
Reduce Animal Products
One kilogram of beef and cheese emits 71kg and 24kg of greenhouse gasses, while 1kg of rice, grains, and legumes emits between 2-4kg. Fruits, vegetables, and nuts emit less than 1kg per 1kg. I will reduce my climate impact by enjoying 2 meatless meals and/or 0 vegan meals each day this week.
Action Track: Community
Share My "Why"
I will record a video to share why I am taking action this Earth Month, a sustainable swap I've made, and/or a local conservation effort in my area.
Freshwater + Oceans
Dishwasher Efficiency
Hand washing dishes can use more energy and hot water than a dishwasher. To save water, I will use a dishwasher and scrape, rather than rinse, dishes before loading them into the dishwasher.
Climate + Air
Online Energy Audit
Energy use and waste is often invisible. I will complete an online energy audit of my home, office, or dorm room and identify my next steps for saving energy.
Climate + Air
Low Carbon Diet
Carbon is emitted into the atmosphere in a variety of ways, including through the foods we eat and food we waste. I will learn about low carbon foods and replace higher carbon foods with them in my diet.
Land + Forests
Keep My Community Clean
At times it may not feel like it's up to us to keep our community clean and healthy, but we all have a role to play. Each day I am outside, I will pick up any litter I see.
Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

John Aung 4/03/2024 9:40 PMThe Denver team had our monthly company breakfast at the office today. The breakfast food items were specifically ordered with greenhouse gas emissions in mind. Beef products represent around 5x the GHG emissions as Eggs, Chicken, and Pork. Alternatives like plant-based dairy and proteins, like soy/oat milk, tofu, beans or grass-fed meats are much more sustainable over time.
But avoiding high climate impact foods like Beef, Lamb, Shrimp, and Dairy, is not always possible or realistic for some; BUT! learning and being mindful about the type of protein we consume, their impacts, and what alternatives exist can lead to significant change if we all did our part AND shared with those around us.
