Michelle's actions

Land, Water, and Air

Calculate My Carbon Impact

Knowing our carbon footprint is the first step to reducing it. I will calculate my carbon impact and identify lifestyle changes that could reduce the carbon footprint and impacts on the environment. I will share my commitments to lowering my impact on the feed.

Land, Water, and Air

Reduce Food Waste

Wasting food also wastes water, energy, and resources. I will keep a daily log of food I throw away during the Ecochallenge, either because it went bad before I ate it, I put too much on my plate, or it was scraps from food preparation, and commit to reducing my food waste throughout the challenge.

COMPLETED 5
DAILY ACTIONS

Community and Connection

Explore the Feed and Connect with Others

I will spend 5 minutes reading the Ecochallenge feed each day and giving high fives or commenting on posts by people who I don't know, but whose content inspires or interests me.

Every choice matters. I will purchase or switch to products made from sustainable or recycled materials to support innovation and reduce environmental impact.

I've been purchasing 100% recycled toilet paper from "Who Gives a Crap" for a few years now. Fantastic marketing, no plastic and grade A on the toilet paper rating scale. I saw a box of it on the loading dock this week, so I think our shop is going to start selling it too. Woohoo! #themoreyouknow

I saw that too and was wondering if the shop was going to start selling it! I would love to buy a roll from them to try it out.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
    Community and Connection
How did keeping your community more clean connect you more to your local area? Did picking up litter change your perspective on the cleanliness of your community?

I have occasionally picked up litter when walking my dog in our neighborhood, so I decided to make it a part of my daily challenge and happened to (too easily) find and picked up 25 pieces of litter on Tuesday! I'm excited to keep it up through the month and see how much I can clean up for the neighborhood. :)

I love this! There's a woman in our local park who does her own pickup walk every week, and when someone else picks up litter, she thanks them for helping the earth <3
