To prepare for extreme weather events, I took several key steps to ensure my home and family are ready for emergencies:
    Created an Emergency Plan
I mapped out evacuation routes, identified local shelters, and made sure every family member knows what to do in different scenarios (fire, flood, storm, etc.).
    Assembled an Emergency Kit
My kit includes non-perishable food, water (at least 1 gallon per person per day for 3 days), a flashlight, batteries, a first aid kit, medications, important documents in a waterproof folder, and hygiene supplies.
    Signed Up for Alerts
I registered for local emergency alerts (like FEMA, local weather services, or municipal alerts) to get real-time updates.
    Reviewed Insurance Coverage
I checked that my insurance covers floods and natural disasters, which many basic policies don’t.

Reducing sugar isn't as simple as cutting out desserts—added sugars often hide in everyday foods like ketchup, salad dressings, and granola. Fortunately, food manufacturers are now required to list added sugars under total carbohydrates on nutrition labels.
You can also spot sugar by checking the ingredient list. Ingredients are listed by weight, so if sugar is near the top, the product contains a significant amount. The challenge? There are more than 50 different names for added sugar, making it tricky to identify.
Here are some of the most common names for added sugar:
    • High fructose corn syrup
    • Cane sugar or cane juice
    • Maltose
    • Dextrose
    • Invert sugar
    • Rice syrup
    • Molasses
    • Caramel
Being a label reader helps you make more informed, healthier choices—and it’s a small but impactful step toward personal and planetary wellness.

Equitable access, environmental justice and creating employment opportunities are just a few advantages of low-income solar programs. What motivated you to support solar energy initiatives for low-income communities, and how do you think it contributes to a more equitable future?

    • 17-DAY STREAK
Supporting solar energy initiatives for low-income communities is important to me because access to clean, affordable energy should not be a privilege — it should be a basic right. Low-income households often bear the highest energy burdens, spending a greater percentage of their income on electricity while also living in areas more vulnerable to pollution and environmental degradation. Solar programs can help relieve that burden by lowering energy costs, improving air quality, and fostering energy independence.
By making renewable energy accessible to everyone, we not only address environmental justice but also create local jobs and stimulate economic growth in communities that have historically been left out of the green economy. Supporting these initiatives contributes to a more equitable future by ensuring that all people — regardless of income — benefit from the transition to clean energy. It helps close systemic gaps, empowers communities, and builds resilience against the impacts of climate change.

What did you learn about how tourism impacts wildlife, and how can you make more conscious choices when planning a trip? How do you think your travel decisions can contribute to wildlife conservation and respectful interactions with nature?

    • 17-DAY STREAK
o make more conscious choices when planning a trip, it's important to:
Support eco-friendly tour operators that prioritize wildlife welfare and conservation.
Avoid attractions that exploit animals (such as elephant rides or captive wildlife photo ops).
Stick to marked trails and follow park rules to minimize disturbance to natural habitats.
Choose accommodations that practice sustainable and ethical tourism.
Learn about the local wildlife and ecosystems beforehand, to better understand how to respect them.
Travel decisions can directly contribute to wildlife conservation by supporting ethical businesses, spreading awareness, and minimizing personal environmental impact. By choosing experiences that prioritize conservation over entertainment, travelers send a strong message that protecting nature is more valuable than exploiting it. Respectful interactions — like observing animals quietly from a distance and not feeding wildlife — help maintain the integrity of natural behaviors and ecosystems.

    Quit Smoking (If You Smoke)
Smoking releases harmful chemicals into your body and can damage lung tissue, heart health, and more. It’s no surprise that smoking is the number one risk factor for lung cancer.
Quitting smoking is one of the most important steps you can take to improve your health, regardless of your age or how long you have smoked. In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), quitting can add up to 10 years to your life expectancy.
While knowing that quitting is best for your health is one thing, actually doing it can be challenging. However, it's important to remember that quitting smoking offers health benefits at any age, no matter how long or how much you have smoked.

During this challenge, I discovered several valuable resources like Headspace for mental wellness, Blue Zones for healthy living inspiration, and local initiatives like community fitness classes and urban gardening programs.
I believe these resources can benefit my community by making mental health support more accessible, promoting active lifestyles, and encouraging healthier eating habits through local, sustainable food sources.

Sharing this information made me feel much more connected to my community. It reminded me that many people are looking for simple, trustworthy ways to improve their well-being — sometimes they just need someone to point them in the right direction. It also made me realize how many opportunities there are for small actions, like starting conversations, organizing group activities, or just listening to what others need. It felt empowering and hopeful to be part of that positive ripple effect. 🌱
