Recently I've been making habit of going mountain biking almost every morning with my mom, I can see myself making a daily habit of this because it's very good for me and I have a lot of fun doing it.

How is planting trees good for your mental, physical, and spiritual health?

Planting trees is good for the environment because trees absorb CO2 and support different forms of life that is in our ecosystems.

2 days ago I decided to on a walk and took a bag with me to pick up any trash I saw on my way, and I was surprised at how much I picked for two hours!

I ordered a super cool "tumbling composter" during Earth Week, and it arrived today! Though it took a couple of stressful hours to assemble, it is now ready to go! I am so excited to use my old food to feed my new food :) plus, my neighbors (who try to recycle food items/contaminated materials) are on board with giving me their scraps, so hopefully our recycling will be considerably less polluted.

I decided that I am not doing well on trying to source 50% of my meals from local sources at this time of year.  I need my CSA back and the farmers market to start up!  So, I created a custom action that I called repair.  This morning, I tackled the big pile of socks, sweaters, and even pants, that all needed sewing to repair small holes that were making me not want to wear them.  This way, I won't buy new ones, but can continue to use my old clothes and thereby save the greenhouse gases that would have been emitted in the transportation and even manufacturing of any new items.

That's a great idea! I will make time to do the same this weekend. I've been putting off repairing clothes (and a cat bed) in my house because I'm a terrible seamstress, but that's what YouTube is for, right? Thanks for inspiring me, Captain!

What have you noticed on your daily walks? What have you enjoyed? What infrastructure changes could make your walks more enjoyable or possible?

I have went on a daily walk all this week so far. I have noticed that it makes me feel happy and I like that I can see how wonderful nature is to enjoy. I wish the sidewalks could be wider and they could be repaired better.

I really like my daily walks too, Derek.  I am lucky to live near enough to the foothills that I can walk on them from my house and enjoy all the lupine and balsamroot that is blooming now.

It’s going great. I got new reusable bags yesterday which was exciting.  I made vegan hamburgers which tasted exactly like regular burgers. Also I finally recycled all my cardboard boxes that I had in my closet.

Hi Jazmin, I have yet to try a vegan burger that has given me the same pleasure as a "regular" one. What kind of patty did you use? Would you be willing to share your recipe?

It is going pretty well.  The walking is easy because it has been lovely weather and the Foothills are gorgeous with wildflowers.  Sourcing locally has been harder because farmers market doesn't open until May and my CSA is between seasons (Winter and Spring greens).  I will see if I can find some local asparagus, but it won't be 50% of my diet.  Last year, I selected 3 minute showers as one of my challenges.  That one is very hard, but I try to keep it in mind now and take shorter showers to conserve our precious water supply.

    Industry Reduce Single-Use Disposables
What single-use items (e.g. straws, coffee cups, vegetable bags, plastic bags) do you regularly use? What could be substituted instead?

I have a reusable grocery bag but I always forget it at home so I bought 1 more bag to leave in my car all the time as my “emergency bag” just in case I forget my other one. Instead of using plastic straws I recently bought reusable metal straws.

Jazmin, I just store like four re-usable bags in my car at all times.  When I finish unloading my groceries, I hang the empty bags on the handle of the door that leads to the garage, so whoever goes out next has to take them out to the car :)  I was given these really cool bags that scrunch up into a little pouch that is attached, so I keep that in my purse too, for when I go to Target or somewhere else that I won't be buying large amounts.

Recently there was a recycling center added near my neighborhood so I will start to recycle all the cardboard that I get from online purchases.
