I learned so much throughout this ecochallenge and I'll still be learning! Well done everyone for keeping up until the end! Keep goijg and keep building on your newly formed habits as environmental sustainability is a journey towards a better future.

Basic Needs & Security Get Involved in the Water Justice Movement
Who is affected by water insecurity in your region? How are they affected? How are you impacted by water insecurity?

Environment Agency data shows water companies in England discharged raw sewage into rivers and seas for more than 2.7m hours in 2021, in 372,533 incidents. Outrageous!

Environmentalist campaigners are taking legal action against water companies and I am aiming to write to my MP to support this decision and urge our government to take action to keep our waters clean and update our outdated sewage pipes (dated from the victorian era!)
  • Reflection Question
Health & Equity Learn About Gender Diversity
Why is equity for gender diverse individuals important for a just and sustainable society?

Respecting individuals gender identity shouldn't have to be difficult. I can't believe we live in a world where equity for gender diverse individuals still has to be discussed. Surely if we could attain equity, our society will be much happier.

Very sad that this is the last day of the challenge 😔
When I look back at what the team has achieved though I’m very proud at some of the actions we have taken and what we have accomplished together.
So pleased to have heard people’s stories individually, especially around behaviours that they are changing or trying to at least. Very pleased a few of our team actions have been taken on. Looking forward to hearing people’s stories on the quick ask I’m going to post on Tuesday so if you do see this post defiantly get your thinking caps on! Even if it is about how competitive I am 😊

Basic Needs & Security Reduce Kettle water usage
Has this been a big change for you, if so has it changed your habits?

no this has been a little change which means it is easier to keep it going longer term meaning a small but accumulative difference.  As well as only boiling what I need also started to put any extra into a flask for later use!
  • Reflection Question
Basic Needs & Security Practice A Sharing Economy
What benefits does the sharing economy offer to you and others? If you are a little shy to try, what could be a first step for you?

I have joined a waste not want not group - I have shared items I no longer need and benefitted from others that have been sharing.  It has meant that I have saved money and saved others money too as well as prevented items going into land fill.  In a few weeks I will modelling at a charioty fashion show - my time will be pleasureably spent with friends and support raising money for a worthy cause rather than just being an attendee.

Spotted this news article this morning and definitely going to do it, or not do it!   It's no mow May, keep your lawnmover in the shed or just do not mow the entire lawn.  Have a read.
