    I do so much composting - after I share all scraps with my chickens. That's why I only have two vegan meals a day. The girls give me an egg in exchange for the scraps.

    Oatmeal all the way is my main breakfast. I soak steel cut oats overnight. In the morning I add raisins, flax, and chia, and cook 10 minutes. Then I chop up an apple and add that for the last 5 minutes. I always stir in a big spoonful of peanut butter and sprinkle cinnamon over it all. YUM!!

    Since my hardest habit to break is running water while I brush my teeth, I had to put a note on the bathroom sink reminding me. My wife doesn't need this reminder, so she moved it one day; I had then to start making my brain work whenever I turned the water on, and finally got to a point near the end of this month that I would NOT run the water...

    I cannot believe it is the last day of the EcoChallenge already! This has been a great experience, and it is wonderful to see the collective impact we have made!

    Creating a readiness plan was knowing the area, your household, and the neighbors.  The key thing is to practice so everyone is familiar with what the plan is.

    I recently heard someone say, "We don't know bird calls and songs, but we know every sound that our smartphones make." It struck on many levels. Many people could not identify more than one or two bird calls, or anything from the natural soundscape. Yet every swoosh or ding or buzz from our phones has an immediate, automatic response...
