    Basic Needs & Security Volunteer
What was one of your most memorable volunteer experiences, and why? What would you like to volunteer for next, and why?

A wonderful woman in my neighborhood organizes the Montgomery food share - she picks up food & personal care items to donate to the FoodBank every other month, and sends a note about how many lbs we've collected.   I donate every month and sometimes  help with pick-up.  My favorite memory was helping at the Shelter on Elm street - feeding folks on Sunday morning with a YMCA volunteer group.  So much gratitude from those who have so little

I encourgae you to read more under 'calculate my water foot print', particualrly under food choices.  some new insights there.
  • Reflection Question
Basic Needs & Security Calculate Your Water Footprint
What is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?

i had no idea growing coffee beans was so water-intensive (and maybe land use as well).  I drink tea - which apparently is better.

I already eat a mostly vegetarian, whole food meal - but do consumer a lot of nuts (albeit not nut-milk) and dairy.  Didn't realize that nut-milk requires more water that soy; still, will stick with cows for that one!
  • Reflection Question
    Education & Livelihood Work-Life Balance
How does practicing a work-life balance create a more sustainable life for you? How might it contribute to sustainability more broadly?

I Use my  apple watch to remind me to stand and to breath.   Not sure how that contributes to sustainable life style though
  • Reflection Question
Climate & Ecosystems Reduce Single-Use Plastics
What plastic or single-use items do you regularly use? What did you substitute or could be substituted?

I could substitute single-packed  lunch items (like packet of minimuffins, cookies) with a reusable box;  I now pack sandwiches into a reusable sandwich container instead of a ziplock   bag.

My 7th grader reminds me to pack their lunch in reusable containers, and I do.  This week - instead of buying pre-packed cookies and mini-muffins - I bought a big box and repacked them into smaller containers.
One disappointment: I am trying hard to sell our reusable swim diapers in a cardboard wrapper box that doesn't require a plastic polybag for protection, but online retailers line Amazon, Target.com and Walmart.com require such a polybag around every 'soft good' article or 'baby' article.... all that plastic!!  Who will renegotiate with them - as they also gloat about their own waste reduction goals, yet demand plastic bags!
