Received first utility bill since solar panels became operational. The first week without them we used as much electricity as the three weeks with them. Have had up to 37 kwh in a day generated from the panels. Working with the utility and the panel company to make sure all that is generated is being contributed to our account.

Watched the film Kiss the Ground yesterday about regenerative agriculture. Lots of good information.
Today, rather than drive to the airport, we are catching three buses and one light rail to get there.
Finally got the mason bees out today. Still a little cool but was told the bees would be getting hungry and need to be released. Supposed to warm up while we are gone for the next week.

Watched No Impact Man and Cowspiracy. Being intentional about your choices is the huge lesson in No Impact Man and Cowspiracy takes that further to consider how your diet ultimately affects the environment and how major players even in the environmental movement are dismissing (if not hiding) that fact. Both were good.

Did my what appears to be monthly collection of recyclables littered along road and trail. Over a half mile along Hwy 302 on the Key Peninsula from my house I collected 140 aluminum cans, 75 plastic containers, seven glass bottles, four plastic bags and some styrofoam blocks. Did not make it back the whole way before I had completely filled my large trash bag. Also just piled up other trash items along the way. For another day.

Met with the Earth Ministry colleagues group tonight. Shared ideas about recycling and EV gatherings. Also, about advocacy with the legislature on environmental issues. Intention needs to be followed with action.

Between October 8, 2022 and March 8, 2023 I have been picking up litter in an area one mile from my house (one direction) and a half mile from my work place. I have picked up 627 aluminum cans, 157 glass bottles, 68 plastic bottles and 20 plastic bags. I wonder where the disconnect is between humans and the environment in this. State Representatives killed the WRAP act (Washington Recycling and Packaging) in Washington state by adding over 20 amendments to it. Paid recyclers fought the measure too because they said everything about recycling was going well so why mess with it. Obviously, it is not going well. When will we reconnect as a human species to the living universe?

I believe that the community - in the fullest sense: a place and all its creatures - is the smallest unit of health and that to speak of the health of an isolated individual is a contradiction in terms.

In The Living Universe by Duane Elgin he speaks of coming into connection with the Mother Universe. This quote seems to fit into that understanding.
"If we surrendered to earth's intelligence, we could rise up rooted, like trees."
    - Rainer Maria Rilke

Access to resources, food and fresh water is at best limited for many people in the world. While many are quite satisfied with their current situation. What really causes that to be?
