  • Reflection Question
Health & Equity Support Indigenous & First Nations Communities
Why is it important to honor native and indigenous peoples and cultures? What have you learned that is important to you? If you identify with or are a member of an indigenous group, how does your community practice sustainability?

Honoring native and indigenous peoples and cultures is important for recognizing historical injustices, promoting cultural diversity and environmental stewardship, and protecting human rights. It acknowledges their contributions to society and helps promote inclusivity and equality.
  • Reflection Question

What was surprising about the ingredients in your cleaning supplies, personal care, and pet products?

I made a floor cleaner at home. I mixed 1/4 cup of white vinegar, 1 tablespoon of dish soap, and 2 liters of warm water in a bucket, and used this to clean the floor in my house. This product uses simple, natural ingredients that are often readily available in most households, which can help reduce the need to purchase and consume more single-use cleaning products.

  • Reflection Question
Basic Needs & Security Calculate Your Water Footprint
What is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?

    Roshni Thawani's avatar
    Roshni Thawani 4/21/2023 1:05 AM
One way to reduce water use is to turn off the tap while brushing your teeth. This can save a significant amount of water over time, as leaving the tap running while brushing your teeth can waste up to 4 gallons of water per minute. Additionally, taking shorter showers or installing low-flow showerheads can also help to reduce water use. Finally, repairing any leaks or drips can prevent wasted water and reduce your water bill.

I have reduced my plastic use by carrying my own reusable bags, water bottles, and using reusable plates and utensils.
  • Reflection Question
Economy & Communities Watch a Documentary About Economy, Energy, or Industry
What did you watch, and what was the most important thing you learned in the documentaries you watched? How does what you learned connect to your understanding of climate change and Earth Month?

    Roshni Thawani 4/19/2023 4:28 AM
I watched a documentary on energy consumption, which explained how energy consumption has significant environmental, social, and economic implications, and transitioning to renewable energy and improving energy efficiency are important ways to address these challenges. Individual and collective action is needed at all levels to mitigate the impacts of energy consumption.
