Today, I accidently left my phone in my friend's car. I am now going on a trip phoneless. This somewhat stressful but funny situation is making me realize how dependent I am on my phone. While I do this one/two-day no phone trip, I challenge you all to go a day without your phone or another electronic device. I hope that not having my phone will allow me to engage in meaningful conversations with my extended family.  I hope that it might allow you to be more present and perhaps spend some time doing something you wouldn't otherwise do. Maybe you'll spend more time with your friends, do a puzzle, or go on a walk with all the time you aren't spending on your phone!

Oberlin is in the Black River watershed. It was interesting to learn that the Black River used to be very contaminated; it was nicknamed the "river of fish tumors." However, there has been a lot of restoration work over the past few years. I'm interested to look more at the USGS data for the Black River watershed when I have more time. My notes so far:  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MeAJUj5ZNDi_DixA1z6ZfcUYFHWuAl9f9KUfW7PDMRQ/edit . Feel free to add to the doc if you live in Oberlin.

This is amazing! Would you be able to share the google doc so we can open and edit it?

I'm realizing I use so many paper towels. I am going to try to use towels or reusable napkins instead.
