  • Reflection Question
Health & Equity Spend Time Outside
What are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?

    Frank Ranieri's avatar

In-person social connections are impacted as a result of excessive screen time. Especially for children, the constant screen time impacts their ability to have meaningful in-person conversations, make eye contact and share their feelings openly by using their speaking voice.

Most of us are likely guilty of this one in some shape or form. Have you ever been at a family gathering where half the room is on their phone? Have you been out for dinner and you check your phone? I know I have done it and recently have tried to become more cognizant of it.
  • Reflection Question
Basic Needs & Security Make Zero-Waste Meals
How did you incorporate using an entire vegetable (skins, peels, tops, and stalks) during one of your meal preps? What's something new you're going to try that is a zero-waste meal practice?

When making soup, I blended all the veggies (celery + tops, carrots, onion +skin etc.) in a blender to create the Mirepoix. Blended finely and added in, I wasn't able to tell the difference!
  • Reflection Question
Basic Needs & Security Reduce Animal Product Consumption
What was the tastiest meatless or vegan meal you ever had or had recently? Did you make it? Can you share a recipe?

I love Shakshouka, which is traditionally made with eggs. As part of a regular meal during this month, I have eliminated the eggs and added other sources of protein including chickpeas, avocado, peppers etc. Paired with a side of pita- it is delicous!
  • Reflection Question
Economy & Communities Find out where your energy comes from
Where does the energy in your region come from? Which energy is a renewable source?

    Frank Ranieri's avatar
    Frank Ranieri 4/07/2022 8:50 AM
Most energy in my area (RFCW) comes from Gas & Coal. I was surprised to see that almost 5% of the energy was from Wind power! I am hoping to see this number climb in the future.
  • Reflection Question
Basic Needs & Security Take 5-Minute Or Less Showers
With 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?

    Frank Ranieri's avatar
    Frank Ranieri 4/05/2022 7:29 AM
As I look to enhance the landscaping outside of my home, I will look into more sustainable watering methods, like rain barrels and plants that require less water.
  • Reflection Question
Health & Equity Safe Disposal of Medications and Household Chemicals
Do you have any tips for others on finding locations that accept products for safe disposal?

  • Reflection Question
Basic Needs & Security Calculate Your Water Footprint
What is one way you will reduce your water use? What is a practice you already have that helps you reduce your water use?

    Frank Ranieri's avatar

I will reduce water use by shortening my showers by (5) minutes & selecting the low water option on appliances (dish waster & washing machine).
