Participant Feed
Reflection, encouragement, and relationship building are all important aspects of getting a new habit to stick.
Share thoughts, encourage others, and reinforce positive new habits on the Feed.
To get started, share “your why.” Why did you join the challenge and choose the actions you did?

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Equity Donate FoodWhy do you donate food? How does it connect to your values?
Darian Patwal 4/29/2023 5:23 PMI have not donated any food yet, but I have plans to do so over the summer. I donate food because I know how many people are out there that have food insecurities and nobody should have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. -
Darian Patwal 4/29/2023 5:21 PMI joined this challenge and chose the actions that I did because I really wanted to figure out a way to break my bad habits. For example, I have always taken long showers but I now know how much water is wasted taking a 20 minute shower, no matter how relaxing it can be. I will be taking shorter showers going forward and wash my hair every other day instead of daily to help conserve water! -
Darian Patwal 4/29/2023 5:17 PMAs it is coming up on the end of the month, I really enjoyed this EcoChallenge. It helped me realize the impact my actions were making on the environment and help teach me ways to improve my habits to have less of a negative impact. Even a small change is helpful when thinking about saving our Earth! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEducation & Livelihood Research Impact InvestingAfter learning more about investing, how can you increase positive impacts and decrease negative impacts?
Darian Patwal 4/29/2023 5:16 PMI can increase positive impacts and decrease negative impacts by researching about specific companies before investing in them instead of simply investing in companies that are simply profitable but might making an environmental or social impact on society. -
Darian Patwal 4/27/2023 8:59 AMAs my month gets busier, I have learned it takes more "brain power" for me to remember to do things in a sustainable manner. Such as, remembering to take time to be mindful, eat at least one meatless/vegan meal per day, make zero waste meals, etc. It is an attainable goal, just takes more effort on my end when life and work gets a bit busier. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & Security Reduce Animal Product ConsumptionWhat was the tastiest meatless or vegan meal you ever had or had recently? Did you make it? Can you share a recipe?
Darian Patwal 4/24/2023 8:57 AMThe tastiest meatless (AND) vegan meal I have had recently is Paneer! It is a popular Indian dish. I made it on Sunday for lunch (any have made it many times previously) and it was great! I did not follow a recipe, just made it how I normally do!-
Rachel Orrison 4/27/2023 5:12 AMPaneer is delish!

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Equity Watch a Documentary About Equity, Gender, Health, or PeaceWhat did you watch, and what was the most important thing you learned in the documentaries you watched? How does what you learned connect to your understanding of climate change and Earth Month?
Darian Patwal 4/21/2023 7:36 AMI watched the movie "Ghandi" from 1982. It is about India's fight for freedom from the British and it was so eye-opening to see how their culture was impacted. The most important thing I learned was that you can attain any goal through non-violence! This is connected to my understanding of Earth Month because in today's violent age, it taught me that being calm and peaceful is always a better option no matter what goal you are trying to obtain. -
Darian Patwal 4/21/2023 7:22 AMMy goals are going a lot better than I originally thought they would go! It is easier when I am able to keep track of the things I am doing and can focus more on how my actions are impacting the planet! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONBasic Needs & Security Volunteer in My CommunityWhat was one of your most memorable volunteer experiences, and why? What would you like to volunteer for next, and why?
Darian Patwal 4/21/2023 7:19 AMI am volunteering today to clean up a park for Earth Day with my Deloitte team. I have previously done volunteer work but not in Omaha. My favorite was back in college when I created an event for my student organization, HerCampus, called "Trash Dash" where we picked up trash around campus and raised $500 for a local environmental non-profit! -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & Communities Mend ClothingWhat was it like to mend your clothing? If you are skilled at mending, what tips do you have for others?
Darian Patwal 4/20/2023 11:13 AMIt was super hard because I am not skilled. My grandma taught me how to fix my favorite pair of pants that had a hole in them, but the more I practice the better I will get!
