Rights not roses. That we should count our blessings because we take a lot of right for granted.

Girl rising. Nothing terribly surprising as I'm already familiar, however it reiterated the power of education and how lucky we are. It was very sad.

Nations united. It was surprising to learn there are so many triggers to disaster. Interesting to learn that research has been done but action needs to be taken.

Minimalism. I learned that minimalism looks differently on different people. It's okay to have a bunch of books if they mean something to you. Having excess is so damaging to the earth.

What was one nonprofit organization that was exciting to learn about?

MS Society. I currently volunteer with the MS Society and will participate in supporting riders for the Texas Bike MS 150 event as a volunteer coordinator. It was sexciting to learn about the events that happen all year and to hear the impact the events have on people living with MS.

Symphony of soil. The most intriguing and important fact is the relationship between soil, plants, and animals. I never considered the intricacies of organic farming before. I'll make greater efforts to support farmers.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION
Basic Needs & Security Try a New Vegan or Vegetarian Recipe

The recipe I tried was one I tried in college, but I changed it a bit to make it new. It was vegetable lasagna, but instead of using spinach and traditional marinara sauce, I used alfredo sauce and a variety of vegetables. I love trying new recipes (when they turn out good). :-)
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

What ecological or xeriscape landscaping practices do you have? How has your landscape changed from these practices?

    Melissa Norfleet 4/25/2023 7:21 PM
I only plant indigenous plants and utilize mulching and shrubs and plants that do well in hometown heat and don't need a lot of water to thrive.
  • REFLECTION QUESTION

    Melissa Norfleet 4/25/2023 7:05 PM
The lists weren't terribly surprising as I am somewhat familiar with nuances of produce and have chosen the organic route for some time. I've reviews similar list before, but I think it's best to revisit to keep the list and facts fresh.

There are a lot of items that use energy when not, but a lot of appliances are efficient. Also interesting to consider the placement in the home can be so impactful for the appliance.
