This has been a great learning event - we'll be putting details out in The Caregiver for what our team accomplished.  Thanks very much to everyone!  :)

Here's my week's volume of compostable waste comprised of egg shells, coffee grounds, and fruit/veg peelings only that aren't going to the landfill to create GHG emissions - no food wasted and thrown away!  :)

When we started talking about a move to the PNW, it was partly because we wanted to get out of hot, humid South.  We didn't realize that we were coming to a several-decade long drought and an area with increasing, extreme temperatures along with a now-expected "fire season".  As places in the US go from a future-impacts perspective, it's still not too bad...that doesn't mean we don't need to think about future-proofing our homes, etc.

So interesting to see all of the changes that have happened in our country alone. We are definitely seeing an impact here in the PNW.

Saw this link online for kitchen compost containers this weekend *and* realized that I my wife's work in Vancouver has a food waste bin in their parking lot right outside of their corporate gym that we use...so now I'll be taking our food waste over there since Camas doesn't offer this service and my townhouse yard is too small for a compost pile.   I doubt that I'll actually buy one, though, as we get plenty of those salad clamshell containers that aren't recyclable and I can use those to store the food during the week.   :)

I must admit...and perhaps it's a generational thing for me...but I have a lot of difficulty in remembering to be respectful in my use of people's preferred pronouns.  I do suspect that having to slow down and speak more considerately is a good thing in any case.  :)

Remembering to *use* them at all times, I mean...not in being respectful.  :)
  • Reflection Question
Economy & Communities Create A Readiness Plan
What was it like to create a readiness plan? Did you find other resources you could share?

Costco sells some emergency meals "buckets" for a really good price as compared to the same products online.  They're easy grab-n-go in case we need to get out of our house during an emergency.
