Here's the finished garden!  We enjoyed the project. We also used all our compost from the past year in the soil.

Love to hear about all the activities your entire family has been doing during earth month.  Bryant is getting such great lessons at a young age.

      Enjoy your sabbatical time off.

Basic Needs & Security Take 5-Minute Or Less Showers
With 5-minute or less showers reducing your water footprint, what do you plan to add next to your water conservation habits?

We have also been focusing on shorter water run times for hand washing, dishes, and teeth brushing.

What was the tastiest meatless or vegan meal you ever had or had recently? Did you make it? Can you share a recipe?

We love a West African peanut stew recipe we found. That has been our favorite so far.

Over the last 3 days, Becca and I watched 2 documentary movies—Cowspiracy and Seaspiracy—on Netflix. They are eye opening, thought provoking, and very likely habit changing movies for us.
  • Reflection Question
    Health & Equity Practice Mindfulness
What was it like to practice mindfulness? If this is a practice for you already, what was something new you understood in practicing during Earth Month?

This has been incredibly helpful to me. I am bad about letting my thoughts race to other tasks. I am using my sabbatical to be more intentional on focusing on one thing at a time.

Bryant and I went to Natorps to purchase perennial flowering plants for pollinators and plan to plant a garden in our backyard tomorrow to attract them.
  • Reflection Question
Climate & Ecosystems Support Local Pollinators
Why is it important to take care of pollinators? Do you have a favorite pollinator?

Pollinators are responsible for nearly one third of our foods. We are planning our spring garden as a learning activity with Bryant and will design it with plants for pollinators to learn more and see them in action.
  • Reflection Question
Basic Needs & Security Know Your Produce
What surprised you about the two produce lists? How will you use these lists for your grocery shopping? Have you used these lists before?

We are guilty of buying a lot of berries on the dirty dozen list. We can easily replace some of this with melon or pineapple. Many of our favorite vegetables are on the clean list, encouraging us to continue to choose them (corn, broccoli, cauliflower).
