Think about how many people you see each day drinking beverages from disposable cups or disposable bottles, sipping from disposable straws, carrying disposable grocery bags, eating from disposable plates or containers and using disposable utensils. All that single-use plastic has to go somewhere, and it’s had a devastating effect on our soil, ocean and marine life.

One of the best things you can do is to keep yourself informed – the more you know the better. It leaves you better equipped to have those conversations with your friends and family and the people you want to influence. Get yourself clued up on the facts, stay up to date with recent news on the state of our natural world and work out what you can do.

Living in a world shaped by climate change feels like standing at a crossroads. On one side, we see the damage—melting glaciers, devastating wildfires, floods, droughts, and species vanishing faster than ever before. These aren’t distant problems they’re in our backyards, affecting our air, our food, our homes. On the other side, there’s potential—hope rooted in sustainability. It's the idea that we can live in harmony with the planet rather than at its expense.
Sustainability is about more than just recycling or buying “green.” It’s a mindset shift. It's about rethinking how we produce, consume, and coexist acknowledging that infinite growth on a finite planet isn’t just unrealistic, it’s destructive. It asks us to slow down, to listen, and to take responsibility not just for ourselves, but for future generations.
The truth is, the Earth doesn’t need saving we do. And while that can feel overwhelming, it’s also empowering. Because if our choices helped create this crisis, then our choices can also help solve it.

Electronics, clothes, plastics and other items we buy cause carbon emissions at each point in production, from the extraction of raw materials to manufacturing and transporting goods to market.

Climate change is one of the defining challenges of our time—it’s not just an environmental issue, but a social, economic, and political one too. The science is clear: human activities, especially burning fossil fuels and deforestation, are driving global temperatures up. This leads to rising sea levels, more extreme weather, shifting ecosystems, and all kinds of cascading effects that impact health, food security, and even geopolitical stability.
What’s both daunting and hopeful is that we do have the tools to mitigate it—clean energy, sustainable agriculture, carbon capture, and systemic policy changes—but action needs to be faster and more widespread.

The world’s roadways are clogged with vehicles, most of them burning diesel or gasoline. Walking or riding a bike instead of driving will reduce greenhouse gas emissions -- and help your health and fitness.
