Limiting Personal Screen Time
I aim to limit my screen time on my phone and tv for personal, non-essential use (texting/calling, checking emails, performing work functions, etc. are being considered essential and do not count towards this). I want to do this because I would rather spend my time doing other things in order to increase my physical and emotional health. My goal is to not exceed more than 90 minutes of non-essential, personal screen time on my phone/tv each day.

REFLECTION QUESTIONHealth & Equity Spend Time OutsideWhat are the implications for a culture that spends most of its time inside and on screens?
Samantha Howard 4/12/2023 6:22 AMI am afraid for our society as we tend to spend more and more time inside and on screens. I worry especially for my students who are glued to their cellphone screens, day in and day out. I worry about higher obesity rates in children as well as adults, about lower social/emotional skills and number of close relationships with peers, and a twisted sense of reality and self-image due to negative influences online. -

Samantha Howard 4/12/2023 6:18 AMIt took some time to consider all the possible things that the people in my home would need to prepare and plan for; there were several potential emergency events that I had never even thought of, let alone planned ahead for. I am glad that I now have a few plans in place. I feel much more safe and secure. -

Samantha Howard 4/12/2023 6:15 AMI plan to be more mindful of how much water I use when I wash the dishes and learn more about what would be more water efficient: washing dishes by hand in the sink each night, or running the full dishwasher every few days
