Climate & Ecosystems
Attend 1 habitat restoration event
In addition to cleanups, I'd like to contribute to the restoration of our native plants in my community. As a someone who moved to this state, I would like to learn more about the plants native and beneficial to this land while also helping to maintain the ecosystem.
Economy & Communities
Create A Readiness Plan
SDG 9
Each day, I will spend time developing a readiness plan for my household in the event of an emergency.
Climate & Ecosystems
Sustainable Transportation
Check action if 90% of your transportation usage each day is sustainable/low-emission. This includes: walking/running, biking/e-bikes/velomobiles, public transportation, electric/Hydrogen car, carpooling. As much as possible, don't fly or use gas cars. ............................................................... STATS: Road travel accounts for ~75% of transport emissions. Most of this comes from passenger vehicles – cars and buses – which contribute 45.1%. The other 29.4% comes from trucks carrying freight. Since the entire transport sector accounts for 21% of total emissions, and road transport accounts for three-quarters of transport emissions, road transport accounts for 15% of total global CO2 emissions.

Lyra Hancock 4/27/2023 10:04 AMFun experience attending the Richmond Beach Saltwater Park restoration! Learned about the different methods they've implemented to help restore the plant life in the area (they shared an interesting technique with terracotta pots being placed in the earth to help with watering). Looking forward to more opportunities like this -
Lyra Hancock 4/23/2023 5:20 PMLove spending time outside with our dog. Even when the weather is less than ideal, there’s something about being outside in the yard that brings me joy. Our dog loves it too.He gets a little yard update by smelling around. -
REFLECTION QUESTIONEconomy & Communities TRASH & PACKAGING AWARENESSLooking at the trash/recycling your household has produced, what are some ways you can reduce this amount? What products can you stop buying? Are there ways to get the products you need without packaging?
Lyra Hancock 4/23/2023 5:17 PMGreat opportunity to review before trash and green waste pick-up. Some items (like cotton balls and rounds) are from a pack bought years ago that are still being used. However, it was a reminder to look for alternatives for the future. We have a lot of coffee ground waste. I’d like to find ways to reuse the grounds
